[168]. A MESSAGE FROM A POEM – LEAVE THE FUTURE WITH YOUR GOD
I think it is true to say that we all run around making plans and trying to resolve problems in the ordering of our lives. We are creatures of this earth, though we are citizens of heaven. (Philippians 3:20).
Things in this life make us anxious and concerned even though Jesus said the following -
{{Matthew 6:25 “For this reason I say to you, DO NOT BE ANXIOUS FOR YOUR LIFE as to what you shall eat, or what you shall drink, nor for your body as to what you shall put on. Is not life more than food and the body than clothing?”}}
{{Matthew 6:31 DO NOT BE ANXIOUS then, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘With what shall we clothe ourselves?’”}}
{{Matthew 6:34 “Therefore DO NOT BE ANXIOUS FOR TOMORROW for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”}}
Christians ought not be worried about the state of the world. It does concern us for we want goodness but the opposite of that is happening – {{2 Timothy 3:13 “Evil men and impostors will proceed from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived.”}} We know that, and that it will get worse; it saddens us, BUT we don’t worry about it. The Lord cares so much for you. Leave the future with our God.
I am in the Lord’s hands and the future rests with Him. I know where I am going, so do not fear man – {{Psalm 56:11 “In God I have put my trust. I shall not be afraid. What can man do to me?”}}
The purpose of this poem is to be comforted that you are in Jesus Christ and He has the future in His hands and has you too, in His hand. Be sober-minded and REST in the Lord. Don’t try to outrun the Saviour. Leave your future with your God.
===============================================================
LEAVE THE FUTURE WITH YOUR GOD
What is coming, let it wait,
But on the Lord, you concentrate.
Don’t you think that He knows best?
Then let the future with Him rest.
=======================
Joyous times, but heartaches, too,
May be allowed by God for you.
Christ your Lord sits on the throne: -
You do not stumble on alone.
=======================
Crooked byways do divert,
And with them, Christians sometimes flirt;
Track across unknown ground;
Forbidden signs they step around.
=======================
This is not the way to choose!
In blindness, there, your way you’ll lose.
Lamp your feet and light your path -
The word of God dispels the dark.
=======================
Each day is sufficient here,
With light enough to make it clear.
All the rest, leave in His hand.
Not well enough, you understand.
=======================
Don’t outrun your Saviour now,
But Him to lead, you must allow.
Future days are in God’s care,
So worry not, and leave them there.
