[146]. A MESSAGE FROM A POEM – IN UNION WITH CHRIST

It is a great joy and a mark of praise that we are in Christ. Do Christians use that phrase “in Christ” and not think into the depth of it?

In union with Christ examines that subject, and it is too great to write well on it in a poem with poetic structure. I have tried to do that though.

There is a lot in this poem but the lines of introduction for each stanza help us understand – “Love one another”; “Grace from the Saviour”; “Bonds that now hold us”; “Forever we’ll be, with our risen Lord”.

There are so many precious truths about union such as these –

{{Romans 6:5 “for if WE HAVE BECOME UNITED WITH HIM in the likeness of His death, certainly we shall be also in the likeness of His resurrection,”}}. That union is as deep as we can get – united with Christ in His death. That means dying to ourselves. “Here am I, Lord. I am yours.” It also means a glorious union with the Lord, in resurrection!

{{Philippians 2:2 “make my joy complete by BEING OF THE SAME MIND, MAINTAINING THE SAME LOVE, united in spirit, intent on one purpose.”}}. “United in spirit” must surely include all the previous mentioned phrases in this verse flowing from our union in Christ.

The following passage is a very challenging one for us in our relationships with each other. Also this passage contains the 7 unities – a wonderful revelation:-

{{Ephesians 4:1 “I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, entreat you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling with which you have been called,

Ephesians 4:2 with all HUMILITY and GENTLENESS, with PATIENCE, showing FORBEARANCE to one another in LOVE,

Ephesians 4:3 being diligent to PRESERVE the unity of the Spirit in the bond of PEACE.

Ephesians 4:4 There is ONE body and ONE Spirit, just as also you were called in ONE hope of your calling,

Ephesians 4:5 ONE Lord, ONE faith, ONE baptism,

Ephesians 4:6 ONE God and Father of all who is over all and through all and in all.”}}

God bless all who read.

IN UNION WITH CHRIST

Love one another, for love is of God,

And God’s love is pure and true.

Deep agapé love, that caused Christ to die,

Was love given freely for you.

Such love so intense, in spite of sin’s hate,

Allows us God’s grace to construe.

Through love, reconciled, we now are God’s own,

In union that hate can’t subdue.

============================

Grace from the Saviour, His mercy and peace,

Will satisfy all those in need.

Bridging the gap once, He died for man’s sin,

Thus shouting God’s love in that deed.

Slave market of sin, He journeyed around,

And those who were captive He freed.

Good Shepherd becomes, to those He redeemed,

His voice now the one that they heed.

============================

Bonds that now hold us, so firmly to God,

Will never be broken again.

Held there forever, our God is our hope,

His freedom no more we disdain.

Death’s rule met defeat; the victor is Christ,

Whose death causes life now to reign.

Cleansed fully from sin, alive in the Lord:-

Results that have flowed from His pain.

============================

Forever we’ll be, with our risen Lord,

As trophies of His vict’ry won.

The Lamb in the midst, of heaven’s white throne,

Is our Lord, Christ, exalted Son.

Gone every heartache, and pain and shed tear,

Of sin’s bitter curse there is none.

All heaven declares, and earth will shout back,

To declare the work He has done.
