[137]. A MESSAGE FROM A POEM – IF THERE IS DESPAIR SUCH AS IN VIRUS TIMES
This poem was written in the middle of the COVID virus, that terrible scourge from China. Depending on where you lived in the world, you suffered repression from governments, some not too bad, but others were draconian. It is a badge of dishonour, but the world’s most atrocious restrictions, and government repression, was in Victoria in Australia.
I am saying no more about that virus. Yes, I will say just one more thing. For those who accept the Tribulation as being literal and of the word of God, there is this verse in John’s writing – the rider on the fourth horse coming forth not long after worldwide war and famine through the red, second horse, and the black third horse. {{Revelation 6:7-8 When He broke the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature saying, “Come,” and I looked, and behold, an ashen horse, and he who sat on it had the name Death, and Hades was following with him. Authority was given to them over a fourth of the earth, to kill with sword and with famine and with PESTILENCE and by the wild beasts of the earth.”}}
That word there – pestilence – will be terrible as will all these happenings from man and later by God. COVID was just a glimpse of what a pestilence will be like. This may not be too far away, so now is the time to repent and be converted and be part of God’s Church so you won’t be here when all this happens.
In the virus plague some people suffered greatly losing businesses and livelihoods, and not able to attend funerals or visit sick relatives, or even go more than a short distance from home and compelled to wear a mask, and in some places asked to spy on others and dob them in!
Those people found it too hard and the burden was great. The first line begins – “When it’s too heavy for my hands to hold;” and continues to examine some conditions. However the solution is in the last stanza. {{Matthew 11:28-30 “Come to Me all who are weary and heavy-laden and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me for I am gentle and humble in heart and you shall find rest for your souls, for My yoke is easy and My load is light.”}}

IF THERE IS DESPAIR SUCH AS IN VIRUS TIMES
When it’s too heavy for my hands to hold;
When it’s too slippery for me to clasp;
When it’s too wide for my arms to enfold;
When it’s too difficult for me to grasp;
==========================
It is right then I must remember,
It is to the Lord I must surrender;
For He is conscious of my agenda;
Through ev’ry frustration, my Defender.
==========================
When some of my days don’t make any sense;
When the path through the forest seems too dense;
When more and more people find life too intense;
When they feel enclosed by a rigid fence -
==========================
They aimlessly battle, seeking release,
Seeking contentment and a better peace;
There’s such a peace, which in Jesus won’t cease;
Receive from the Lord; let your fears decrease.
==========================
When Jesus lifts the load, my hands can hold;
When Jesus cleans me up, I can clasp;
When Jesus changes me, my arms enfold;
When Jesus helps me, all things I can grasp.

S.D. Gordon tells of a spring storm that broke a large limb on his cherry tree. Although it hung by a very small strand, to his surprise the blossoms came anyway.
