[036] A MESSAGE FROM A POEM – BLESSED LAMB OF GOD IN ADORATION

This was written as a hymn that can be sung. The emphasis is on the Lord Jesus Christ not so much on us. I hate these modern songs where it is all about “me”. Let us get back to glorifying the Lord for who He is and for what He has done. That should be the focus of our singing.

I have suggested a few tunes that could fit this poem.

There is not much more I will say here. I will let the words do the speaking but I have given three bible passages that would slot into the poem.

{{Ephesians 4:8-10 Therefore it says, “When He ascended on high, He led captive a host of captives, and He gave gifts to men.” (Now this expression, “He ascended,” what does it mean except that He also had descended into the lower parts of the earth? He who descended is Himself also He who ascended far above all the heavens, that He might fill all things.)}}

{{1 Corinthians 1:18 “The word of the cross is to those who are perishing foolishness, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God,”}}

{{Revelation 4:11 “WORTHY ARE YOU, OUR LORD AND OUR GOD, to receive glory and honour and power, for You created all things, and because of Your will they existed and were created.”}}

There is a line to be explained. It is this one – ((WE THE NEEDY ONES AND POOR: ))

((FOR US THE ONES WHO ARE POOR)) Depending on which tune is chosen, one of those lines will fit.

BLESSED LAMB OF GOD IN ADORATION

Oh, Lamb of God ascended,

Unto Your rightful throne;

But once to earth descended,

You came among Your own.

Those ones that You had nurtured

Throughout the centuries;

But mercy they rejected -

Ignored Your loving pleas.

==========================

Lord, You displayed compassion,

While living here on earth.

You taught among the nation,

The need for man’s new birth.

The burdened ones supported;

The ill, relieved from pain;

Sight to the blind was granted;

The dead did live again.

==========================

We the needy ones and poor: For us the ones who are poor

You came down from above.

Oh, Lord, You are the sheep’s door -

The entrance to God’s love.

But then as the Good Shepherd,

You gave Your life for us;

And in that giving blossomed,

A Church most glorious.

==========================

Placed on the cross, dear Lord,

They nailed and tortured You.

You felt the “cut of man’s sword”

With sympathisers few.

The Father’s face was hidden

While You hung there in shame.

The One so sorely smitten,

That we might own Your name.

==========================

And we have this assurance;

Lord, you will come again.

But there’ll be no reluctance,

To sing this true refrain;-

“To Him who loved us dearly,

Whose blood our lives redeemed -

For You alone are worthy,

In honour great, esteemed.”
