About Roshelle
  • Education: BA - Religion and History Masters Degree in Religious Education and Discipleship
  • Experience: Working in Various Associate Pastor positions since 2007
  • Comment to those looking at my sermons: It is my desire that you see Jesus in the words that you read. Not my denomination.... Not my gender.... JESUS.
  • One of my favorite illustrations: "Meddle not in the affairs of dragons, for thou art crunchy and taste good with ketchup." Why is this my favorite? Because it reminds me that I cannot stand toe to toe with the devil wearing my flimsy human armor.
  • Family: One husband One dog
  • What my parents think of my sermons: Awesome, of course!!
  • What my spouse (really) thinks of my sermons: If only he could stay awake long enough to comment..........
  • Best advice given to me about preaching: It's not so much advice, as it is a question that I ask my self. "Do I preach unmixed with human tradition?" I believe it is an important question because loving church and church traditions are not the same as loving Jesus and what I am called to is point people to Him.
  • Books that have had an impact: Holiness by J.C. Ryle Cost of Discipleship by Dietrich Bonhoeffer Windows of the Soul by Ken Gire Desire of Ages by Ellen White I Used to be Perfect by George Knight
  • If I could Preach one more time, I would say...: Look to Jesus and be transformed. He's your friend. He loves you. He died to save you. He wants, more than anything, to spend eternity with you.
  • What I want on my tombstone: Taking a nap 'til Jesus comes

  • Isaac And Rebekah

    Contributed on Nov 14, 2024

Right from the start we know that Isaac and Rebekah are going to be in for a bumpy ride because “the babies jostled with each other in her womb.”

November 16, 2024 Last week we concluded the story of Abraham and Sarah with a bridge that included the genealogies of 2 of the 3 branches of his family: the children of Keturah and the children of Ishmael. Today we begin with the “account of Abraham’s son, Isaac.” Isaac was 40 years old when ...read more

  • Foward-Looking Faith

    Contributed on Nov 7, 2024

Faith is always looking forward and in the final events of Abraham’s life we see his forward-looking faith on full display.

November 09, 2024 After the dramatic events on Mount Moriah, Abraham and Isaac returned home. Sarah lived for, approximately, another 20 years and died at Hebron age 127. Abraham was now 137 years old. He had been walking with God for a long time. Faith is always looking forward and in the ...read more

  • Abraham And Isaac

    Contributed on Oct 31, 2024

Abraham was to be the father of the nation through which the Messiah would come. Faithfulness was an important character trait, yet, in moments of perceived crisis, Abraham had proven himself unfaithful. Was he really the man for the job? That was the question to be answered.

November 02, 2024 When we left off last week, Abraham and Sarah had been told that, at the same time the following year, they would have a child. I also asked a question……. Did Abraham finally understand that Sarah was and had always been included in the covenant promise? Well, no. Genesis ...read more

  • Lot

    Contributed on Oct 25, 2024

The wickedness of the city may have caused Lot pain, but instead of being an INFLUENCER, he had become the INFLUENCEE. He had squandered his knowledge of God. His very presence in the city and his own actions say – if nothing else - “acceptance” of the swamp he had chosen.

October 26, 2024 We don’t know much about Lot. He is mentioned just 26 times in Genesis, primarily in chapters 13 and 19. We know that his father was Haran and that he joined the household of his uncle Abram and aunt Sarai after the death of his father (interestingly, it was one of Abram’s ...read more

  • Abraham And Sarah

    Contributed on Oct 17, 2024

Abram’s hands were not clean. Sarai’s hands were not clean. Hagar’s hands were not clean. This situation was never a part of God’s plan. It was the result of distrust. Period. Full stop. And yet…… God did not abandon the plan. He was committed to these people in spite of themselves.

October 19, 2024 Last week we concluded with God promising, again, to make Abram a great nation and then ratifying the covenant by walking through the carcasses – taking upon himself the consequences of a failed covenant. Which brings us to Genesis 16. It had been 10 years since God first ...read more
