STAY THE SAME VS. SHIFT THE GEARS (Metathesiophobia)
By Wade Martin Hughes, Sr. Kyfingers@aol.com (YouTube: Wade Hughes)
*METATHESIOPHOBIA: METH means change, phobias means fear.
*PARARDIGM: (paer-e-daim, parr-e dyme) break the habits? The way you do things, the pattern, the model, method, standard, example, view point,
*PARADIGM SHIFT: a fundamental change in the approach or underlying assumptions, a new way of thinking, major change in how people do think and do things.
HOW EASY IS IT TO FOREVER STAY THE SAME? DO WE ACCEPT THE NORM OF IT IS EASIER TO STAY THE SAME? DO WE NEED TO SHIFT THE GEARS?
I had an Uncle by marriage that had a station wagon. He had a large family. The transmission went out in the station wagon. The only gear that worked was REVERSE. He would drive to work in REVERSE. They would go to church in REVERSE. He became the best drive I ever knew in REVERSE. Perhaps we should quit allowing situations and circumstances define how we get to where we are going. FIX IT? DO WE NEED TO CHANGE….
WHAT WOULD WE CHANGE ONE MINUTE AFTER YOUR DEATH.
Hebrews 9:27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:
THE MASTER SENT HIS SERVANT INTO TOWN TO RUN ERRANDS. The SERVANT MET LADY DEATH in the center of town and he was very afraid. He ran from Bethany as fast as he could. In great fear, the servant begged the master for the fastest horse on the farm. The servant explained he had come face to face with LADY DEATH. He did not want to meet LADY DEATH at this time. If you will loan me the fastest horse I will GO TO SAMARIA and hide.
The master later saw LADY DEATH on her way to Samaria. The master ASKED HER why did you scared my servant so bad. LADY DEATH said your servant scared me so bad in Bethany. I was sent to get him in SAMARIA and he was in Bethany. He scared me really bad. IT APPEARS THAT THAT SERVANT ON THE FASTEST HORSE WAS HEADED TO THE INVEITABLE DATE WITH LADY DEATH IN SAMARIA.
MINISTRY: ACCIDENT OR ORDAINED OF GOD? A MATCH BUILD IN HEAVEN:
1945, BILLY GRAHAM WAS TO PREACH IN Ashville, North Carolina. Billy HAD A SONG LEADER HE HAD BEEN USING IN HIS CRUSAGES. Billy’s song leader was very sick with a sore throat. SOMEONE MENTIONED A SONG LEADER THAT HAD COME TO THE CRUSADE. Billy Graham said: “NO TIME TO BE CHOOSY”
CLIFFORD BARRELS was on his honeymoon and had heard about BILLY GRAHAM’S CRUSADE. Cliff and his wife attended and the they spent the rest of the life on a TEAM that touched the world with the word. .
SATAN SHIFTS GEARS: SHORTEN FOR GOD’S ELECT’S SAKE.
Matthew 24:22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.
Time as we know it is temporary. The Bible warns us as we see the LAST DAYS or the END OF TIME we need to BE READY. Jesus warns us HE WILL COME AS A THIEF IN THE NIGHT, when we least expect.
SEEMS THE SPIRIT, THE BRAIN, THE BODY AND THE FAMILY ARE THREATEN BY CHANGE… FEAR; FIGHT; FLIGHT! We tend to get ANXIOUS and FEARFUL by changing. BE HONEST, PEOPLE CAN BE VERY STUBBORN AND SET IN THEIR WAYS. Let us add another FEAR FACTOR: what if I try to change and I fail? There can be reasons we stay the same and one of those problems or obstacles could be MOTIVATION. One other trait hinders change: I DON’T LIKE CHANGE, I DON’T CARE., APATHY --- IT COST TOO MUCH EFFORT. Are we content and satisfied to stay the same. I WILL LOSE CONTROL
*1 THE BRAIN IS RESISTANT; 2. STUBBORNESS; 3. THREATEN BY CHANGE; 4. FEAR, FLIGHT, FIGHT; 5. MOTIVATION; 6. *FAILURE; 7. APATHY, I DON’T CARE; 8. THIS IS HOW MOMMA DID IT. 9. TH LOSS OF CONTROL.
LEARN TO CHANGE, CHANGE OF ATTITUDE. CHOICES HAVE CONSEQUENCES. WHAT DO I NEED TO CHANGE?
Galatians 6:7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. 8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. 9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. 9 Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.
TIME : MY OLDER BROTHER, IN HIGH SCHOOL TURNED THEIR TEACHER’S DESK AROUND AS A JOKE AND ALL LAUGHED. Several in our class heard and we thought it was funny. So we decided to do it. Mr. Franscois was our teacher. The whole EIGHT GRADE CLASS TURNED THE DESK AROUND, ALLTHE CLASS HELPED. The girls got his TUMS, books, and papers noting where each thing was. Us, boys turned the desked around and we placed everything as it was. Mr. François came in the room and walked around and pulled out his chair to set down, and he hit his knees on the closed end of the desk and he fell in the floor. He was so embarrass and immediately he was angry. My brother’s class laughed. We are in trouble. Wow! Mr. François was screaming, WHO DID THIS. We all did! No one admitted it. He got his paddle and started swinging it. Finally I stood up, I was crying. No one else admitted it. He begged me to confess on the others. I refused. I knew it was the whole class. Finally, Anthony and Joe confessed. Mr. François started with me. It burned and hurt so bad. I took my medicine as did the other two boys. I confessed, but I felt it not fair. But I made the DECISION TO NOT TRY TO BE LIKE OTHERS AND BE HONEST. CHOICES HAVE CONCSEQUENCES.
