    based on 1 rating

It was always in the plan of God that Jesus would be presented as a King. The problem with the kingship of Jesus was that God’s King and Man’s King were not necessarily the same thing.

  • The Unexpected Jesus

Contributed by Tom Fuller on Mar 25, 2013
    based on 4 ratings

What do you expect from Jesus? The people, disciples, and the religious leaders had some very specific expectations of Jesus on Palm Sunday. He shattered all of them, just as He shatters our expectations as well. And that's a good thing!

John 12:1-2, 9-19 Jesus performed an incredible miracle in raising Lazarus. It made huge waves. It wasn’t the first person Jesus raised, but it was the first who had been raised after the Jewish belief that the soul had left the body. According to the Talmud (Babylonian Talmud Sanhedrin ...read more

So, the question is raised in vs 22, “What then shall I do with Jesus who is called Christ?” They all said to him, “Let Him be crucified!” Crucifying the anointing! I wonder how many times we have crucified the anointing by doing our own thing?

Ponder the humility of Jesus, and know that God loves you that much.

"BECAUSE GOD LOVED YOU THAT MUCH." Imagine being part of the crowd that cheered for Jesus as he rode into Jerusalem that Sunday many years ago. What did they all shout again - do you remember the word? It was "hosanna!" Do you know what that word means? "Hosanna!" It means "Save!" That's what they ...read more

  • Love On The March

Contributed by Doug Silvers on Mar 24, 2015
    based on 1 rating

In the story of the Palm Sunday, Jesus was unafraid to march into the lion's den and willfully take what the world would give him. Jesus' humility and selfless act is masked on this day. We see Palm fronds and sing "Hallelujahs", but Jesus saw us.

Love on the March Mathew 21: 1-11 & Isaiah 50:4-9 In a military setting, marching is done for a variety of reasons. It can be to get all of a platoon or squad from one place to another, Or, marching can be a way to show mastery of skill. It was in boot camp where we practiced the entire time ...read more

    A sermon for Easter.

"I've Seen the Lord" John 20:1-18 I was a history minor in college and there really isn't a whole lot about history that changes. I think that's one reason I liked history. It was kind of like reading a book. This is what happened. Learn it. Remember it and you will do well on the ...read more

This message is for Palm Sunday and causes one to put himself in the crowd with Jesus as he wept for Jerusalem. It answers the question of why, exactly, did Jesus weep.

Once again, good morning from SEBC. I hope this message finds you all doing well. I want to encourage you all to hang in there. I can’t wait until we turn on the news and hear, “The Corona virus has been beat.” But today finds us all still being urged to stay at home and, would you believe it, ...read more

  • A King? On A Donkey?

Contributed by Clarence Eisberg on Apr 2, 2020
    based on 1 rating

Why does the story of Palm Sunday begin with Jesus on a donkey? Prophecy fulfilled. A living parable. Corrie Ten Boom said: Eveyone one singing. Waving palm branches... do you think for a moment the donkey thought it was for him? Let me be the donkey on which Jesus rides in His glory.

In Jesus Holy Name April 5, 2020 Text: John 12:13-15 Palm Sunday Redeemer “A King? On a Donkey? The Romans Laughed” Palm Sunday and Holy Week has arrived to find each of us “sheltering in”. Unexpected. I did not expect to be sharing these two great events by video, in ...read more
