The words of the Lord to Israel concerning the Passover should be precious to us, “When I see the blood, I will pass over you.” We are all offered the gift of being “passed over” – salvation through faith in the shed blood of Jesus, our Passover Lamb.

God intentionally worked out his plan for the birth of Jesus in the city of Bethlehem. To emphasize his providence, he used the symbolism of shepherding; and not just any shepherding, that of the fields around Bethlehem.
