God’s message through the Prophet Jonah was one of warning to the people of Nineveh to repent of their sinful ways. The call of God all through the bible is for people to repent and turn back to Him. Genuine repentance alone can bring genuine change that will please God and bless others.

The King of Nineveh humbled himself before God because he understood that God is sovereign. There are many others in the bible who recognized God’s sovereignty and submitted to His will. Only those who recognize and acknowledge God’s sovereignty can joyfully accept His dealings in their lives.
