Too much salt is bad for you! Christians are like salt. The world can only take us in small doses. The Bible says it’s not that too much salt is bad for you but that salt mixed with too much dirt loses it’s flavour and is of no use.

Matthew 5 - Part 10 - Too much salt is bad for your health! I use a saline solution for my contact lenses. It has the same salty consistency as my tears have. Without it I could not clean my lenses and putting them in would be difficult. I’m told that too much salt is bad for you. The Bible says ...read more

Solomon writes that "everything under the sun is meaningless." Why and what does that mean for our lives?

Today, I want to ask ourselves the tough question of, how much do we actually pursue the love of God? To help us think about this issue, I want to start off with an activity that someone suggested to me this week. I’d like everyone to take a blank piece of paper which represents your life and take ...read more

What is it with angels? They turn up all through the Bible with multiple wingsets, (not just two wings like you see in the pictures), with the Ark of the Covenant, with Jesus after His temptation, in Revelation praising God with voices like thunder.

Genesis 6 - Angels, Demons, Giants, Vampires, Aliens and Your Marriage! Every woman wants to marry an angel, but... Have you ever seen an angel? I have. At the foot of our bed. Wasn’t on drugs. Don’t get sidetracked. Noah was saved from the coming judgment by coming into the ark. We can be saved from the coming judgment by coming to Christ and believing in Him. Come under His authority and trust Him today.

Genesis 7 - Imagine how many trees Noah cut down to build the Ark. Methuselah, whose name we have seen means "When he dies, judgment" was on his deathbed. God’s grace in giving man time to repent was drawing to a close. In Genesis 7 the entire earth is flooded. This isn’t a local flood. This is ...read more

Careful: Many of life's blessings can be enjoyed, but they carry with them the potential to work against you.

Gaining Your Bearings in Life (Proverbs 18:20-24) 1. I was told that I had used the joke from last week's sermon just 4 weeks earlier, about the 2 Jews, the 2 Catholics, and the 2 Baptists stranded on an island. Oops. 2. So, to redeem myself, I will tell one only about two Jews stranded on an ...read more

  • Why Did Jesus Have To Die?

Contributed by Ray Mckendry on Apr 1, 2010
    based on 4 ratings

Jesus was not just a good man with a good example to share. He was something much more. Jesus was the substitutionary sacrifice we all need because we sinned against God and cannot offer a sufficient payment to cover our debt.

Why Did Jesus Have to Die? I can see why the good actions of Jesus may cause some people to emulate him. I can even see that it may lead to better lives, but I cannot see how His example can change their hearts! Alan Scholes, a former agnostic testifies from his experience: “I had often heard my ...read more

This sermon looks at two of the common misinterpretations of this verse and two ideas that can help us understand it accurately.

    - One of the most misinterpreted Scriptures is Philippians 4:13 – “I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.” - It’s usually used as a Superman verse.
