Paul speaks of 14 different Christians leaders in Romans 16. Phoebe is listed first among these Christians. What was it that made her so special? Every church has its Phoebes. Pastors need to salute the Phoebes in their churches.

Phoebe was a deaconess in a town about 8 miles from Corinth. She was likely a wealthy widow, and like Lydia was able to travel because of her independence and resources. Such women have been key people in the progress of the church all through history.
