Psalm 1 lays out the great theme that we hold up in the Christian life. The contrast of two types of people. The one who follows God’s law which is the way of blessedness. Standing opposite of this is the one who follows the way of wickedness whose end is judgement.

I was driving though the mountain range of Colorado when I saw a sign posted that said this was the Continental divide. This Continental divide is a fascinating this. Two raindrops can fall from the same cloud. If one drops on one side of the Continental divide and the other on the other side, they ...read more

  • David’s 911 Call For Help (1-2)

Contributed by Dr. Odell Belger on Jan 4, 2022
     | 1,254 views

Psalm 35 is another of David’s imprecatory prayers. In it David appeals to a righteous God to send judgment upon the enemies of God, and the persecutors of His righteous people.

WHY DID DAVID PRAY SUCH A PRAYER? It is believed that since Old Testament characters did not have the benefit of the New Testament, they did not have a complete revelation of the judgment seat of Christ. Therefore they believe the wicked had to be judged and to be rewarded in this life for ...read more

Paul was a member of the church in St. Joe, IN, an elder. He and his wife were really great friends to us the whole time we lived there. They’d do anything for us…almost. Paul was retired, which meant he had a lot of time to work on his lawn, and he enjoyed it, and it showed. His ...read more

  • Calling

We can have whichever vocation we want if it is not sinful and is working wholeheartedly for God while walking in love (if we haven't already heard clearly from God regarding a path we need to be on). We are free in Christ.

Some Christians want to be rigid regarding their calling/vocation. I learned differently at Christian Counseling School. God does not call us to rigidity. It is unhealthy. We are free in Christ (Holy Bible, New International Version, 1973/2011, Galatians 5:11 ). We can have whichever vocation we ...read more

Psalm 66 is a corporate Psalm of Thanksgiving or Praise in response to the work of God in the lives of the people of Judah. This introductory message looks at the first four verses and the summons to praise - reflecting on the context of praise, the command to praise, and the content of our praise.

Psalm 66:1–4 ESV Shout for joy to God, all the earth; sing the glory of his name; give to him glorious praise! Say to God, “How awesome are your deeds! How can we be sure to establish a God-centered life rather than an ungodly life. Psalm 1 is a description of the wicked and the righteous. It describes both the God-centered life and the self-centered life.

The Psalm Of The Two Ways Psalm 1 I claim little originality for this sermon. Much of this came from a commentary by the late Ray Stedman. Psalm 1 1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the ...read more
