In the OT times the leaders would come to the prophet desiring God to show them the way for the nation through his prayers. They were willing to obey God even if it was unpleasant for them so that they would have a good relationship with their Father.

If we trace God’s hand back to the book of Genesis and follow it through the OT we see God as the creator of two institutions. (1) The family and (2) the church. And we quickly realize that the two are very closely related.

We Have A Scapegoat

In the OT the blood of sacrificed animals was shed to take away the sins of the people and this had to be done annually, but when Jesus went to the cross on our behalf in obedience to the Father's will, our sins were taken away once and for all.
