Message Point: God is in control.
Focus Passage: I Samuel 9:1-24
Supplemental Passage: Trust in the LORD with all your heart And do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight. (Proverbs 3:5-6 NASB)
Jer 29:11 'For I know the plans that I have for you,' declares the LORD, 'plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope.
Rom 8:28 And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.
Introduction:
I. Unexpected Directions
a. Saul was worthy to be king, from an earthly POV
b. Saul was given the task to chase after some lost donkeys
II. Unexpected Meetings
a. Saul’s search was fruitless for the donkeys
b. Saul’s failure put him in place to meet God’s man
III. Unexpected Results
a. Saul expected to hear where he could find the donkeys
b. Saul received honor from the man of God.
