Isaiah’s vision in the temple and the message he received there is just as valid for the church and Christians today as it was for God’s people then - what is not of Me must be removed from My kingdom. My kingdom will only be built on My holiness and My g

Isaiah 6:1-13 6:1 In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord sitting on his throne, high and lofty; and the hem of his robe filled the temple. • Names Of God: Adonai, God Our Master And Owner Series

Contributed by Justin Steckbauer on Aug 1, 2022
     | 2,394 views

The name Adonai occurs about 300 times in the Old Testament. Every time it’s used it’s written as a possessive plural form. So it could actually be read as “my Lords” which reminds us that God is a trinity, of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

"Servant" in our English New Testament usually represents the Greek doulos (bondslave). Sometimes it means diakonos (deacon or minister); this is strictly accurate, for doulos and diakonos are synonyms. Both words denote a man who is not at his own disposal, but is his master's ...read more

Contributed by Ajai Prakash on Apr 23, 2024
     | 1,114 views

David knew God’s heartbeat at its best. He was a worshiper, gifted songwriter, and musician, creating many worshipful moments in the presence of God. He was called a man after God’s own heart.

Opening illustration: While ministering in the Middle East, my wife, Maureena, and I experienced the heartbeat of God almost every day. We were so blessed to have heard Him speak and guide us along life’s path. As we followed after His heart and heeded His voice, He would bring about many blessings ...read more

#11 (and final) in my Romans 8 - What a Way to Live! series. It first summarizes the rest of the chapter, and uses extended allegory of the Trojan war to describe inseparable love.

Romans 8:38-39 – To Be Loved (NOTE: to get the full effect of the Trojan War illustration, you may want to research this more than I have written. Watching "Troy" is a help, too.) Well, we’ve made it. We spent all fall studying Romans 8, and I must admit, I’m ready for a change. Perhaps you ...read more

Christ's presence in the house of one of his friends reveals the impact He has on the culture, from the inside out

I think that it is safe to say that while the church is a spiritual entity it is also a business. There are two sides to the church. There is the organism, that is the spiritual reality of the church. Then there is the organization, which is the infrastructure of the church. Anything that is a ...read more

I would like to thank Pastor Jerry Shirley for sharing this series on Acts. It has been a blessing as well as a great help. I have used these for our church, as I spend my days caring for my dying father.

Listen to advice and accept instruction, that you may gain wisdom in the future. Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand.

LORD, OPEN MY EARS TO THE SPIRIT OF COUNSEL "The ear that listens to life-giving reproof will dwell among the wise."(Proverbs 15:31 ) To make vision work, it must be coupled with instruction. Jesus excelled not just because He had a vision, but because His ears were tuned to hear ...read more

God is, and ever has been, my protector. Why would He let us down now?

FROM LAMENT TO PRAISE. Psalm 43:1-5. Bold prayer dares to address God in the imperative. It seems that the Psalmist, speaking on behalf of many a pilgrim since, has lost his sense of the immanence of God. Yet we cannot rely upon senses, so he falls back on what he knows about God. ...read more
