About Jefferson
  • Education: BA in Psychology from University of Memphis MA in Marriage and Family Therapy from Reformed Theological Seminary
  • Experience: We currently live in the frozen tundra of Central IL. I grew up in Memphis, Tn. and my mother was friends with Elvis Presley in high school. (True story). I graduated from the University of Memphis with a BA in Psychology. I did one year of grad school in Psychology at U of M and then became a Christian through the influence of a campus ministry. I quit grad school, my job, and left all my friends, to move to North Carolina and work at a small residential school called Crossnore School. That's where I met my wife, Maxine, who had just moved back from Thailand. We got married and moved to Jackson, MS to go to seminary at Reformed Theological Seminary. I graduated with an MA in Marriage and Family Therapy and later became an LCPC (Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor). I have worked in psychiatric hospitals, residential facilities, school, and was a youth pastor for 14 years. I am currently the senior pastor of First Baptist Church Chenoa. Maxine and I have been married for 28 years this fall. We have two biological children, Josh who is 24 who works in cyber security and Austin, who is 21 who wants to be a music producer. We have a spiritual daughter, Shiann (married to John), who is 27 and an eighth-grade history teacher. I am an avid reader of history and biographies. And we have the cutest granddaughter in the world that we call Goose. I run 5ks, play guitar, and write. We have a dog named Bucky who doesn't do any tricks but we still love him. And the way to my heart is oatmeal-butterscotch cookies.
