Jesus charges Peter as they chat around the campfire

One of my favorite characters in the Bible is Peter. I guess it’s because I can relate to him so much. He tries to do the right things and say the right words but often stumbles along the way. Here begins the beautiful story of “Feeding the Five Thousand,” which is told by all four of the evangelists and this is the only event from the earthly ministry of Jesus told in all four gospel. It shows what God can do with a little!

This is a glowing account of their work and their teaching. Matthew says that Jesus withdrew to a desert place apart when ...read more
