When you hear the word “contend,” what comes to mind? An ugly fight? A heated argument? These are negative connotations, but contending can also be a very good thing, and that’s exactly what we see in the book of Jude.

Jude exhorts us "to contend for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints." A falure to clearly identify "the faith" has resulted in the proliferation of denominations and sects because divisions arose of opinions on matters of expediency.
