Nathaniel is open-minded enough to come see Jesus for himself, and overcomes his initial skepticism. This makes him the ideal Israelite. Also, Jesus is not a ladder. Angels come "to" Jesus, not "upon" him.

In Church history, St. Peter is everything and Andrew is nothing, but would there ever have been an apostle Peter without an Andrew? Andrew is a great example for us to follow to be witnesses for Jesus!
