God graciously works obedience into the lives of his people.

Scripture Introduction Christians have disagreed and debated, since the earliest days of the church, God’s role versus the believer’s role in growth in godliness. Some Bible verses, considered by themselves, seem to support popular phrases like, “Let go and let God,” or “I can’t; God can.” Jesus ...read more

Did God need a mulligan? No but he is generous in giving them.

Today we’re looking at what us golfers and those on Planet Shamrock might call God’s mulligan or do over. Of course he doesn’t need a mulligan, but when we look at how He created, then destroyed, then created again, it sure does look like even he thought He made a mistake. And where was he during ...read more

Contributed by Ross Cochrane on Dec 18, 2009

The name Methuselah means "When he dies, judgment". It’s a prophetic name. Methusaleh was the oldest man who ever lived indicating that God held off judgment till the last minute. This speaks to me of God’s grace.

Genesis 6 - Part 5 - If you’re looking for a good name for your newborn, what about a name like "When he dies, judgment!"? Did you notice in Genesis 6:3 that it says "My Spirit shall not strive with man forever, because he also is flesh; nevertheless his days shall be one hundred and twenty ...read more

Like the replacement bulb that came with your Christmas lights a generation ago, Jesus took his place among us "duds" and gave us the light of life.

Apparently he could putt a golf ball before he could even walk. Then when only three years old he beat the noted comedian and avid golfer, Bob Hope, in a putting contest on TV. By age eight he had won the first of many golf tournaments. Even if you don’t know anything about golf, you’ve heard of ...read more

God’s grace, through Jesus Christ, by no means cheapens His righteous holy requirements. Rather, it shows just how demanding He is! There is NO HOPE for anyone fulfilling those requirements apart from Jesus. So, through Jesus and the Law, God has leveled

God gives people time to respond to Him. And that’s why we are still here. He doesn’t just zap us out of existence. Even the plagues showed God’s patience in giving Pharaoh opportunity to change his mind.

Exodus 9 - What does it take for the Lord to get your attention? In Exodus 9, Moses goes to Pharaoh again and says "Thus says the Lord, let My people go!" Pharaoh says "no!" and three more plagues come to Egypt, just as Moses predicts. Even though Egypt’s livestock die, and the people develop ...read more

Jesus is not impressed with an outward show of self-righteousness, but with an inner heart of dependence upon Him, which he found among the Gentile "dogs."

I like this thought posted by Mike Atkinson in his daily email humor list some time ago. If you can start the day without caffeine; if you can get going without pep pills; if you can always be cheerful, ignoring aches and pains; if you can resist complaining and boring people with your troubles; ...read more
