1. Exodus 5,6 - Keep Your Focus!
Contributed on Dec 25, 2009
How do you feel when you really believe God has called you to have a positive Godly influence on people and all you end up with is rejection? What do you do when things go from bad to worse? Pack up and leave? I love what Moses does...
Exodus 5,6 - Keep Your Focus! Exodus 5 is where Moses confronts Pharaoh and says "Let my people go!" He is rejected by Pharaoh and instead of freeing Israel, Pharaoh increases the oppression of their slavery. As a result of Moses efforts, Israel also rejects Moses leadership. How would you ...read more

2. Exodus 7 - Shock Treatment!
Contributed on Dec 25, 2009
When God shocked Pharaoh’s heart it hardened all the more. How does your heart respond to God’s promptings? Are you shocked by your sin and your need to humbly submit to Him and accept His forgiveness? Are you shocked by the Cross of Christ?

3. Exodus 8 - Not The Cain Toads And Midgies!
Contributed on Dec 25, 2009
If you live in Queensland Australia like I do, you know we have a problem with Cain Toads and if you live in Airlie you have to deal with annoying little insects called midgies. But that was nothing compared with the Plagues Pharaoh experienced.
Exodus 8 - The Plague! Exodus 8 speaks about the plagues of frogs, lice and flies and how Pharaoh’s heart remained hardened. Speaking about plagues, I have been sick this week and felt like I had one of the plagues. Not wanting to spread my "plague" (flu) around, I spent the week in relative ...read more

4. Exodus 9 - What Does It Take For The Lord To Get Your Attention?
Contributed on Dec 25, 2009
God gives people time to respond to Him. And that’s why we are still here. He doesn’t just zap us out of existence. Even the plagues showed God’s patience in giving Pharaoh opportunity to change his mind.
Exodus 9 - What does it take for the Lord to get your attention? In Exodus 9, Moses goes to Pharaoh again and says "Thus says the Lord, let My people go!" Pharaoh says "no!" and three more plagues come to Egypt, just as Moses predicts. Even though Egypt’s livestock die, and the people develop ...read more

5. Exodus 10 - No, I’m Not Interested In Partial Obedience! I Call The Shots!
Contributed on Dec 25, 2009
"God, I’ll obey Your Word for my life, but...." Compromise! And God says, "No, I’m not interested in partial obedience. The consequences of partial obedience are just as devastating as no obedience." God says, "I want to call the shots!
Exodus 10 - No Compromise! I’ve been reading Exodus 10 this morning where God brings 2 more plagues to Egypt - swarms of locusts and total darkness, but Pharaoh’s heart is hardened. Years ago I was invited out to a farm in West Wyalong, in NSW. It was night when we arrived and after eating, ...read more

6. Exodus 11 - 12 - Get Out Of My Life! I’ve Had Enough!
Contributed on Dec 25, 2009
What happens when God is on your case and wants you to repent? Pharaoh shouts "Get out!" to God as well as Moses. Egypt shouts "Get out!" to God as well as Israel. The Passover is forever linked with that night of grief and the ensuing exodus.
Exodus 11,12 - Get out! In Exodus 11 the biggest plague comes to Egypt with the death of the firstborn sons of the Egyptians. Warning is given, but Pharaoh’s heart is hardened. It all occurs as Israel observes what is known as the Passover. At that time they sprinkled the blood of a lamb on the ...read more

7. Exodus 13 - Don’t Touch Me! I Belong To God, So Back Off!
Contributed on Dec 25, 2009
In friendly banter, I will say to guys that give me a friendly push, "Hey, I belong to God! I am annointed! Don’t touch the Lord’s annointed! Back off!" What about you? Do you belong to God?
Exodus 13 - Set Apart for Him! Exodus 13 interests me as it speaks about the firstborn sons of Israel. I am a firstborn son. If I had been in Egypt in the previous chapter I too would have perished unless I took the blood of the lamb and put it on the doorposts and lintels of my house. And in ...read more

8. Exodus 14 - Stand Still And Move Forward!
Contributed on Dec 25, 2009
Sometimes God says to me "Get on with it! That’s when you will see My deliverance! Get moving! Do something with your faith, don’t just stand there!" and then the way opens up, and the waters part, the impossible happens and the enemy is defeated.
Exodus 14 - Stand Still and Move Forward! Exodus 14 speaks about the miracle of the division of the Red Sea. I was wondering why would Pharaoh want to go after Israel after all that he had been through. You would think that he would know by now that it was an exercise that would only produce ...read more

9. Exodus 15 - How To Sing In A Desert Situation Rather Than Complain!
Contributed on Dec 27, 2009
It interests me that God tests me by allowing me to go through difficult situations in order to prove the quality of my character, the genuineness of my worship and the motivations of my service. What is your Marah?
Exodus 15 - Singing and Suffering Exodus 15 is an anthem of praise to God for Israel’s deliverance from Egypt. It’s often called the song of Moses and the men got a choir together and sang it. Then in antiphonal response the women under the leadership of Miriam sang as well. As soon as they ...read more

10. Exodus 16 - I Don’t Recall Grumbling Being A Fruit Of The Holy Spirit!
Contributed on Dec 27, 2009
I like Moses response to people who grumble. "Your grumblings are not against us but against the Lord." That’s calling it like it is! Grumble for be grateful but grumbling is not one of the fruit of the Holy Spirit!
Exodus 16 - New and Fresh Every Morning! I don’t think I have ever been tested in my trust concerning food. I have always had enough. I have never been without. Julie was away recently in Sydney for a brief time and the food ran out, but all I had to do was to go to the shop and buy some more. I ...read more

11. Exodus 17 - What Has God Already Placed In Your Hands? So Use That!
Contributed on Dec 28, 2009
God can use an ordinary rod in Moses hands. What resources are in my hand? What will God use in my life to enable me to find the victory I need in the circumstances I face? Am I willing to support my leaders?
Exodus 17 - What’s that in your hand? Use that! 1. AM I WILLING TO BE TESTED IN YOUR FAITH? "Am I willing to trust in God when I face problems and crisis points in my life? Am I willing to go to Him in prayer for the answers I need on a daily basis?" In Exodus 17 God leads His people to a ...read more

12. Exodus 18 - Who Do I Allow To Speak Into My Life?
Contributed on Dec 28, 2009
I need to be careful as to who I allow to speak into my life. You can’t just seek to please all the people all the time, but Moses didn’t shy away from Jethro’s counsel.
Exodus 18 - Who do I allow to speak into my life? Every leader needs help. No leader is truly a leader without teammates. Moses was good but not that good. He had great insight because he had sense enough to seek God. Jethro was also a good leader. He saw straight away what the problem was. ...read more

13. Exodus 19 - Fear God But Draw Near With Holy Boldness! How Does That Work?
Contributed on Dec 28, 2009
What I love is that we are not told to stand back from God. We are not told not to go too close. Unlike the people of Israel, we are told to be like Moses and to draw near to God.
Exodus 19 - Holy Boldness! I can’t say I have ever felt afraid of God, but I have felt the awe of His presence, and I have been overcome by a sense of His majesty. I remember standing out on a mound of earth out on a property and looking up at the stars. Away from the city, the stars seem so ...read more

14. Exodus 20 - You’re Always Telling What I Can And Can’t Do! Give Me A Break!
Contributed on Dec 28, 2009
All of us have broken the 10 commandments in our lives. In fact the NT says that they were given so that I would realize that I am a sinner in need of a Saviour. Boundaries aren’t enough.
Exodus 20 - Boundaries and Freedom I remember stealing a bag of lollies from a shopping centre as a kid. I would have done it again and again, except the guilt of that act stayed with me for years. I regretted being so dishonest. All of us have broken the 10 commandments in our lives. In fact ...read more

15. Exodus 21 - An Eye For An Eye! I Want My Revenge!
Contributed on Dec 28, 2009
God speaks to me of recompense not vengeance, punishment but not cruelty, deterring crime and not accepting bad behaviour. As I love and serve Him I take on His character and I can be just and fair.
Exodus 21 - An Eye for an Eye Exodus 21 is where Israel is given instructions regarding slaves, violence and restitution. You won’t believe some of the things that are covered here, from buying slaves to an ox falling accidently in a ditch. Rules and regulations. This is where we come across ...read more

16. Exodus 22, 23 - What, You Mean God Is Interested In My Life?
Contributed on Dec 28, 2009
What these chapters say to me is that there is no part of my life that God is not interested in. He wants to guide my thinking and actions in terms of my relationships with others and with Him.
Exodus 22, 23 - God is interested in my life! My Mum suffered from corns on her foot. She was totally frustrated with this callused patch of hard, thickened skin and could not get relief. One day I invited her to Church and a woman spoke on healing. Invitations were given to come forward but my ...read more

17. Exodus 24 - How Close To God Would You Like To Get?
Contributed on Dec 28, 2009
Imagine being drawn into the presence of God on Mount Sinai. What an incredible experience. Aaron, Nadab and Abihu worshiped at a distance but Moses got up close and personal. What about you? How close to God do you want to go?
Exodus 24 - As Close as You Choose to be. Imagine being drawn into the presence of God on Mount Sinai. What an incredible experience. Aaron, Nadab and Abihu worshiped at a distance but Moses got up close and personal, as God called him to receive the stone tablets of the laws of God, signed off ...read more

18. Exodus 26,27 - Don’t Bore Me With The Details! Get To The Chase!
Contributed on Dec 28, 2009
It’s like trying to read description of grass growing, blade by blade in Exodus 26-27. Why does God want all these details included? How does this relate to me today?
Exodus 26,27 - Not So Boring Afterall! I found myself rushing through these passages. It is laborious to read the details of how the tabernacle was constructed. I’m not a builder and this is not exactly a riveting story. It’s like trying to read a description of grass growing, blade by blade. ...read more
