Jesus doesn't say that the poor widow gave more than anyone else. Rather, he says that she gave “more than all.” But why did Jesus say that she gave more than all? I would be delighted if you could rate this sermon and give brief feedback.

INTRODUCTION (SECURE ATTENTION) & BACKGROUND OF THE PASSAGE: PRAY before starting the sermon. ILLUSTRATION: {There is an old story about a king that was coming to visit a certain land. Our prayer life must begin with our relationship with our heavenly Father. God wants us to spend time in his presence even before anything else so we can know his heart. Only afterward should we pray for our needs and the needs of others.

Last week we looked at how prayer is one of the primary ways in which we stay connected to God, or the way Jesus said it, to abide in him, or to be in a relationship with God. All of these terms describe the same thing. Prayer was how Jesus stayed connected to God his Father when he walked the ...read more

Though we look forward to glad heavenly reunion with Christ Jesus and with God at the end of our lives, we need not wait for that time. We can experience that nearness and relationship in the here and now. That is our reward for "receiving" God’s messen

Reward - Matthew 10: 40 - 42 Intro: Crime stoppers – reward for information leading to an arrest – getting a reward for returning something that was lost. • “beautiful Feet And The Gospel Goal” Series

How could Paul have come to the same conclusion as the prophet Isaiah some 700 years before about "beautiful feet"? The "feet" of the Church are to resemble the heavenly "feet" that first stepped onto mountains of Zion, and later were nailed to a cross.

“Beautiful Feet and the Gospel Goal” Romans 10:9-15 At one time or another, everyone has played the “word association game?” You know how it’s played: one person gives a word and then you spontaneously respond with another word. If we changed the game to ...read more

Contributed by John Gaston on May 30, 2013
    based on 9 ratings

Many Christians are more anxious to go to heaven than to remain here and work. Heaven is wonderful, but the Bible reveals why the Earth is still the focus of heaven's attention, and why most heavenly saints still probably wish they were down here!

A BETTER PLACE THAN HEAVEN 1 Jn. 2:28 INTRODUCTION A. HUMOR 1. Tom and Matt were best of friends, they played football once a week for 50 years. 2. When they were getting older, they had an argument about whether people play football in heaven. So they agreed that whoever died first would let ...read more

During WWII, six Navy pilots left their aircraft carrier on a mission. Afterwards, they tried to return to their ship shortly after dark. But the captain had ordered ‘lights out’ on the ship. Ephesians 1:3 says we have already been given every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms, yet we do not seem to have them. Could it be because we do not know how to reach out and take them?

JOHN 10:10 "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full." The Good News Bible translates that statement of Jesus as, "I have come in order that you might have life ---- life in all its fullness." That’s what our faith ...read more

Contributed by C. Philip Green on Dec 9, 2010
     | 4,746 views

Christ gives every believer the Holy Spirit who delivers us from the penalty and power of sin, dwells within us to give us a different attitude and destiny, and directs us to intimacy with our Heavenly Father. This is the true Spirit of Christmas.

Just a few days before Christmas one year, a postal worker at one of the main sorting offices found an unstamped, handwritten, messy envelope addressed to God. Curious, he opened it and discovered that it was from an elderly woman who was in great distress because all of her savings – $200 – had ...read more
