The book of Proverbs is not a book of finances. Rather, Proverbs is about wealth and want in light of the social reality of Proverbs. It makes us rethink the tribulations of poverty and, yes, even the troubles of prosperity (Prov. 15:16).
"A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest, and poverty will come upon you like a robber, and want like an armed man" (Prov. 6:10-11).
