  • Pray

Contributed by Roger Hasselquist on May 6, 2024
     | 817 views

The great thing is that as Christians, we don't have to wait until there is proclamation, or wait for a certain day in order to pray. The call to pray is stated clearly in scripture. One place especially clear is found in II Chronicles 7:14.

Alba 5-5-2024 PRAY II Chronicles 7:14 This past Thursday, May 2nd, was the National Day of Prayer. Jonah walked away from God and landed everyone aboard the ship he travelled in big trouble. Backsliding is a gradual process, but if we repent and turn back to the Lord we can be reconciled and restored to our first love.

We read in Jonah 1:10-12, Then the men were terrified. They knew that he was running away from the LORD, because he had told them. They asked Jonah, "Why have you done this?" The storm was getting worse. So they asked Jonah, "What should we do with you to calm the sea?" He told ...read more

As Jonah was thrown into the sea it seemed all was over, but God had prepared a big fish to keep Jonah safe. In all those seemingly hopeless times, God is in control and let’s keep in mind that God’s grace and His justice always go hand in hand.

We read in Jonah 1:15, “And they lifted Jonah up and threw him out into the sea; and the sea ceased from its raging.” (AFV) As we continue our studies on the life of Jonah and its relevance to the church, many have been blessed and we thank God for these good testimonies. God instructed Jonah to ...read more

  • 4 - A Father To You Series

Contributed by Kent Kessler on Nov 5, 2024
     | 503 views

"I will be a Father to you" is a great promise but a very serious one. Having God as your Father is having a Father that expects the best from you.

4 - A FATHER TO YOU - “I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.” 14 Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness? 15 What harmony is there between ...read more

Contributed by Darrell Ferguson on Sep 23, 2021
     | 2,242 views

This passage stands out because teaching is so highly valued throughout the New Testament. Why is it discouraged here? James considered himself a teacher and was teaching even as he penned these words about not many should be teachers.

James 3:1 Not many of you should presume to be teachers, my brothers, because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly. 2 We all stumble in many ways. If anyone is never at fault in what he says, he is a perfect man, able to keep his whole body in check. Introduction: We Talk a ...read more
