Naaman was commanded to dip in the Jordan River seven times. He finally did and was healed of his leprosy. But beforehand, he put up quite a fight. His preconceptions about how God works, and his pride, both got in the way.

Naaman was a powerful man, with all the success one could desire, all the esteem and glory, BUT he had leprosy. The account of his cure is of value to us as it contains lessons that benefit us in many ways. It was God who wrought the miracle, not Elisha. He was the willing servant.

Naaman was healed by God but Gehazi, the servant of Elisha, coverted the gifts Naaman brought which Elisha refused. This sad story is what happens when lust has conceived and it had tragic results for Gehazi.

Gehazi had to meet Elisha where he lied to Elisha, and God judged him by making him a leper. At that point Gehazi and Elisha separated for good. This sad, but important story has many lessons to teach us about our own deceitful natures.

This verse reveals a lot about Gehazi. Gehazi has seen Naaman’s gift, but he has not seen the curse or the leprous nature attached to Naaman’s gift.
