Before getting to the story proper there is a Prologue – Creation. God breathed creative power. He said it and it happened – “In the Beginning.”

2. The Villain

It is important for us to understand the role The Villain plays in the story. He is not a Halloween caricature - a guy in red pajamas carrying a pitchfork. He is the very worst of enemies and life can be very confusing if we don’t take into account that there is a Villain in the story.

God’s plan would revolve around the history of one man and woman – Abram and Sarai. They will become the nucleus of his hands-on Plan of Redemption.

7. Abraham And Sarah

Abram’s hands were not clean. Sarai’s hands were not clean. Hagar’s hands were not clean. This situation was never a part of God’s plan. It was the result of distrust. Period. Full stop. And yet…… God did not abandon the plan. He was committed to these people in spite of themselves.

8. Lot

The wickedness of the city may have caused Lot pain, but instead of being an INFLUENCER, he had become the INFLUENCEE. He had squandered his knowledge of God. His very presence in the city and his own actions say – if nothing else - “acceptance” of the swamp he had chosen.

Abraham was to be the father of the nation through which the Messiah would come. Faithfulness was an important character trait, yet, in moments of perceived crisis, Abraham had proven himself unfaithful. Was he really the man for the job? That was the question to be answered.

Faith is always looking forward and in the final events of Abraham’s life we see his forward-looking faith on full display.
