In a little fishing village in Scotland, the people gathered to welcome home a fishing vessel that had been away at sea for many days. As the boat neared the shore, the men gazed eagerly toward the dock where a group of their loved ones were waiting. The skipper, looking through his telescope, identified some of the women standing on the shore, saying, “I see Bill’s wife. I see Tom’s wife. There’s David’s wife.” One many was very anxious because his wife was not there. The boat docked, and he left the boat with a heavy heart and took off toward home, climbing the hill and going up the steps to his house. There was a light in the window and as he opened the door, his wife, who had been busy in the kitchen, came to meet him saying, “Oh John, I have been waiting for you.” “Yes,” he said sadly, “but the other men’s wives were watching for them.”
