[362]. A MESSAGE FROM A POEM – CONTEMPLATING OUR DEAR LORD

As you see this is a short poem. It is a simple-hearted contemplation about our Lord Jesus. Stanza 1 is the forward look. Stanza 2 is about salvation. Stanza 3 is about songs of praise. Stanza 4 is about the Lord’s coming and eternity.

The rhyme scheme is AAAA in all stanzas.

The title mentions “contemplation” which is thinking about and looking at the glorious aspects.

Often my poems suddenly come from a line in my mind, or a couplet which I might write down and perhaps a poem eventuates later on. They can come from thinking about a subject, but rarely do I write because I want a set topic.

The poem this time evolved from thinking about the Lord and my position before Him. {{Psalm 40:5 “Many, O LORD my God, are the wonders which You have done, and Your thoughts toward us. There is none to compare with You. If I would declare and speak of them, they would be too numerous to count.”}}. In that verse David is thrilled that many are the thoughts of God towards us. That is so wonderful, but likewise many should be our thoughts towards God; in other words, we should contemplate all the Lord has done.

================================================================

CONTEMPLATING OUR DEAR LORD

Here today and gone tomorrow;

Removed from sin and earthly sorrow;

Looking for a bright tomorrow;

Ours to own and not to borrow.

===============

Jesus Christ has won redemption.

Established us without contention.

From sin can be no exemption.

To think so is man’s invention.

===============

Majesty to our Lord belongs.

Gladly sing to Him with heaven’s songs

Sing to Him who fixed all our wrongs.

Come, praise the Lamb with heaven’s throngs.

===============

Come soon, Lord Jesus, for me.

Your beautiful face then we’ll all see,

Dear Lord, in eternity.

Remember Him who set us free.
