Root Bound
Contributed by Wade Martin Hughes, Sr on May 27, 2026 (message contributor)
CONCLUSION: Many years ago I was in Illinois and was in a discussion with my father-in-law. He told me about this huge apple orchard. There were 10,000 trees, 5,000 red, and 5,000 yellow apple trees. I asked to go visit it. When we got there the owner had a hand drill and was drilling several holes beneath a tree that had no apples. He was going to place some small explosives at the root of the tree. I said: ARE YOU GOING TO BLOW UP THE TREE? He explained to me: Every now and then an apple tree gets “ROOT BOUND.” As a root bound tree grows no fruit. He then placed a small explosive at the roots, not to hurt the tree but to loosen the soil around the tree. I went back the next year just to see this one tree. The tree was full of red apples. Maybe the Lord needs to loosen and soften our hearts?
I have made a choice: I REFUSE TO BE A SEWER DRAIN. I have decided I want to be a FLOWING FOUNTAIN of cool water on a hot dry day! I think the best place for us to be is to be together. We must work in unity and harmony. SYNERGISM HELPS US ACCOMPLISH MORE!

Excuses, Excuses, Excuses

Where’s your fruit, Church? Maybe the world doesn’t see much fruit from us because we’re hiding out like Moses and making excuses instead of jumping into action. God sometimes asks us to do difficult things. Will we trust Him? Do we respond in faith or with excuses when God calls?

Jabez: Overcoming The Significance Of A Sorrowful Name
Contributed by Sterling Franklin on Aug 7, 2011
Jabez' mother named him 'Sorrow,' but the LORD kept this man of prayer from experiencing it. We ought to pray faithfully to God, asking Him to help us in any weighty task and to bring about what is dear to our hearts and according to His will.
