[351]. A MESSAGE FROM A POEM – WRATH MUST SURELY COME
This poem opens with the ride of wickedness in the world where decency is destroyed and delusion has taken over. Then it moves to God’s wrath that will come.
Two lines are these –
Man considers not his end;
Cares not that God has appointed a day.
God has appointed a day. We are clearly told that. {{Acts 17:31 “because He has fixed a day in which HE WILL JUDGE THE WORLD IN RIGHTEOUSNESS through a Man whom He has appointed, having furnished proof to all men by raising Him from the dead.”}}
God’s wrath is against sin. That also is certain. {{Romans 1:18 “THE WRATH OF GOD IS REVEALED FROM HEAVEN against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness.”}} The fact that the world testifies to the wrath of God – the flood, Sodom, Israel by the Assyrians, Judah by the Babylonians is sure and certain promise that wrath is coming on a grossly evil world. The wrath of God comes through consequences.
People adopt the ostrich approach. They bury their heads in the sand and block their ears. They do NOT want to hear of some coming calamity. That position of denial will make their position even worse.
{{Ephesians 5:6 “Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things THE WRATH OF GOD COMES UPON THE SONS OF DISOBEDIENCE.”}}. Yes, wrath will come against disobedience and repentant people once the Church has been removed; against the sons of disobedience. It will NEVER come upon the sons of obedience because they have been removed from it. Jesus suffered wrath on their behalf so they would never undergo God’s wrath.
The second last stanza mentions the judgements of Revelation, the sevenfold seals, trumpets and bowls, 21 in all. They are horrendous, for God’s wrath will be open and drastic. However even then the opportunity will be given to men to repent, but they don’t. Revelation 9:20-21.
BUT FOR THE CHRISTIAN – HERE IS THE LOVELY PROMISE GIVEN TO HIM AND HER -
{{Romans 5:9 “Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from the wrath of God through Him.”}}
=====================================================================
WRATH MUST SURELY COME
Honesty has taken wings,
And flown to the darkness of Hades’ cave.
As it went, it gathered up
Each piece of decency that goodness gave.
====================
Don’t trust him, and don’t trust her,
For their mouths are caverns that expel lies.
The conscience is dead, so dead,
That justice in the wilderness now cries.
====================
None is good, not even one.
Search in vain for one you can truly trust.
The precipice is so close,
Being overtaken by sin’s great lust.
====================
Now delusion is growing.
The ground has been already ploughed, and thrives.
Wickedness has done its job,
And throughout the world, its seduction drives.
====================
Lust of flesh and eyes; life’s pride,
Is what governs people’s interaction.
The world’s system, energised,
Will run its course until its subtraction.
====================
Man considers not his end;
Cares not that God has appointed a day.
He will judge each thought and deed,
And none escapes when man receives his pay.
====================
God’s sword will come to this earth.
The seals, the trumpets and the bowls will fall,
Like never before on sin.
From disobedience, a dreadful pall.
====================
So, flee from the wrath to come.
Take the opportunity God provides.
Turn to the Lord to be saved;
Reject your sin, for it’s you who decides.
====================
