[281]. A Message From A Poem – The Lord Is

[281]. A MESSAGE FROM A POEM – THE LORD IS
This poem is the second shortest one I think I have written. I use lots of metaphors here – a metaphor is when you say something is another thing. A simile is saying something is like another thing.
There is no rhyme scheme in the poem but there is alliteration and repetition – the repetition of a sound and of a word. For example, in the first stanza “The Lord is” is repeated and also the “S” words at the end of the lines.
Looking at these words 27 years on, I know that a lot more can be added to the poem but I won’t do that. Maybe you’d like to write some down.
In the Psalms there are a lot of metaphors such as {{Psalm 18:2 “THE LORD IS my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.”}} {{Psalm 27:1 “THE LORD IS my light and my salvation. Whom shall I fear? THE LORD IS the defence of my life. Whom shall I dread?}}
This is not a complex poem but one to express a lovely range of connections with our Lord.
===========================================================
THE LORD IS
The Lord is my Shepherd.
The Lord is my Strength.
The Lord is my Saving Defence.
================
For He is my sweet song.
For He is my Shield.
By Him is my soul then refreshed.
================
My God is my Refuge.
My God is my Rock.
My God is a Rampart for sure.
================
My God is my Tower.
My God is my Truth.
My God is a Teacher supreme.
================
For He is my Lighthouse.
For He is my Light.
His Name is the Lamb we adore.
================
The Lord is my Bridegroom.
The Lord is my Best.
The Lord is my true blesséd Friend.
================
