[243]. A Message From A Poem – God’s Love Is Beyond Compare

[243]. A MESSAGE FROM A POEM – GOD’S LOVE IS BEYOND COMPARE
I think this poem emerged from considering the letter to the church as Ephesus written by the Apostle John. The strategic verse there is this – {{Revelation 2:4 “but I have this against you, that you have left your first love.”}}
They did not lose their love. As the poem says, they stepped aside from it, but they did not know. That is the trouble with “unfed love”, for it slowly gets strangled and we do not know. We feel and grow love through meditation and prayer in the scriptures.
The poem looks at a few aspects of God’s love, for the subject is so large we could not fit much into a poem.
The reason we love God, is because he saved us. God’s Love extends to all His creation. Love has prepared such wonders for the redeemed. The last stanza ends with thanking God for what He has done for us.
Remember that grand old Hymn -
“The love of God is greater far
Than tongue or pen can ever tell.
It goes beyond the highest star
And reaches to the lowest hell.”
{{John 3:16 “for God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life”}}
{{Romans 5:5 “and hope does not disappoint because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.”}}
How terrible it would be if the verdict against us is this – {{John 5:42 “but I know you, that you do not have the love of God in yourselves.”}}
========================================================
GOD’S LOVE IS BEYOND COMPARE
Lord Jesus, we love You because You have saved us.
To the depth of that love we certainly connect.
How disappointing to see love superficial.
Lord, help us, so that from that love, we’ll not defect.
=============================
The church at Ephesus stepped aside from first love;
Imperceptible at first, not even showing.
What damage is contained in too much busyness,
When for love’s condition, we have not the knowing.
=============================
Our God is love that extends to His creation.
God so loved the world that He gave His only Son.
The Lord is not willing that any should perish.
Through faith, God’s salvation’s free for everyone.
=============================
What is the extent of God’s love to us sinners?
Your enormous love opens up eternity.
The things God has prepared for those He redeemed
Shine in undisclosed light in pure serenity.
=============================
Lord Jesus Christ, we love You, for grace dispensed to us.
Jesus demonstrated in His death that great love.
We thank You for lifting this sinner from the gutter,
Transporting him to wonders in heaven above.
