[236]. A MESSAGE FROM A POEM - ROMANS 5 EXPLORATION

The book of Romans is considered to be The Gospel According to Paul, and is the most theological book in the New Testament. Chapter 5 is one some find difficult in the arguments the Holy Spirit makes through the Apostle.

I based my poem on this 5th chapter, some selected verses, but I tried to write it in an easier format even thought I have not avoided the “big words”.

Coming from an academic field, I like the challenge of literature and exposition, but from my years of teaching I understand the different levels people are at. This is taken into account in my preaching and teaching.

Chapter 5 sits between chapters 4 (the examination of Abraham’s faith) and 6 (the examination of sin). The second man Adam, became sin for us that through faith in Him we have eternal life with forgiveness of sins.

There is not much to say about the poem as I think you will find it straight forward. I am going to select some verses from the chapter that I think are important:-

{{Romans 5:8 but God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

Romans 5:9 Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from the wrath of God through Him.

Romans 5:17 If by the transgression of the one, death reigned through the one, much more those who receive the abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.

Romans 5:19 for as through the one man’s disobedience the many were made sinners, even so through the obedience of the One the many will be made righteous.”}}

In exposition I deal with Romans 5 in the exposition messages found on Sermon Central in the Romans Series.

ROMANS 5 EXPLORATION

From one man all human beings came to be,

And the mother of the living, was Eve.

Adam was the federal head of God’s plan,

But Eve was the one the devil did deceive.

==========================

Judgement was passed and from Eden they were sent,

With condemnation passing to all sinners.

All since Adam have transgressed against the Lord,

With not one excused, for there are no winners.

==========================

Our forefather, known as “the first man Adam” -

Through his disobedience, to all men brought sin.

Death resulted from that and has passed to all,

And against sin’s night, mankind will never win.

==========================

Death reigns in dominion for all have transgressed,

So all are lost and in the world without hope.

Left to ourselves, there is no redemption,

And unaided, we’re not able to cope.

==========================

Jesus Christ, who is the Second Man Adam,

Became flesh in order to destroy death’s claim.

He died as Substitute for each one of us,

And on the cross, He took to Himself our blame.

==========================

He broke down the partition wall and made peace –

Reconciliation between God and man.

Such love and mercy and grace were in His death.

He did what no one else could do in love’s plan.

==========================

From death to life; from hostility to peace;

From condemnation to justification;

The Lamb of God who suffered at Calvary,

Brought to us who were enemies, salvation.

==========================

What Adam lost, the Lord restored forever -

Unbroken fellowship with Christ our Saviour.

Blessing upon blessing He showers on us,

For we are sons and daughters of His favour.

==========================

Redemption is ours that was bought at great price.

Now with Christ, by His blood, we are justified.

Resurrection glory with the Lord we share,

And through His risen life, we are sanctified.
