[144]. A MESSAGE FROM A POEM – IN THE MANGER LAID – CHRISTMAS POEM

This was written as a simple Christmas poem. There is not much I want to say about it. My thoughts were that the poem can be used on cards or greetings, or for children’s pageants and that sort of thing. It is not meant to be complicated.

The First Advent celebrates Jesus Christ coming in the flesh born in Bethlehem in a lowly setting. There would have been something amiss if Jesus was born in palatial surroundings. He came not for the rich and pompous but for the poor and the ordinary person.

{{1 John 4:2 “By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that JESUS CHRIST HAS COME IN THE FLESH is from God”}}

{{Luke 2:15-16 It came about when the angels had gone away from them into heaven that the shepherds began saying to one another, “Let us go straight to Bethlehem then, and see this thing that has happened which the Lord has made known to us,” and they came in haste and found their way to Mary and Joseph, AND THE BABY AS HE LAY IN THE MANGER.”}}

{{Luke 2:6-7 “It came about that while they were there, the days were completed for her to give birth and she gave birth to her first-born son, and SHE WRAPPED HIM IN CLOTHS AND LAID HIM IN A MANGER because there was no room for them in the inn.”}}

IN THE MANGER LAID – CHRISTMAS POEM

Hear the voices of the angels,

Speak that starry night,

Telling shepherds of the Christ child,

Come from heaven’s light.

=======================

See the shepherds at the manger

Greeting Christ the Lord.

Sent by angels to behold Him,

Jesus they adored.

=======================

And the cattle sitting quietly,

Watched with interest there.

Saw the shepherds standing ‘round Him;

Saw their special care.

=======================

Wrapped in cloths, the tiny Baby,

Rested in the straw,

Gently cared for by His mother -

All His needs she bore.

=======================

Glory in the highest heaven

Be to Christ who came.

And this Christmas time we praise Him;

His salvation claim.

    It’s poor etiquette to attend a party and don’t bring the host/honoree a gift. We should feel privileged to receive an invitation to attend. Therefore, it’s extremely important that we bring the right gifts to the honoree.
