[134]. A MESSAGE FROM A POEM – I AM WITH YOU ALWAYS

This poem was written in a time of great trial that had been a lengthy one. It is so precious to know the Lord is with us always and never will He sleep or miss something. He knows our end from our beginning. I want to honour God in this poem.

My suggestion is that you read through the poem but later on you look at each thought and make each one yours.

Some Christians say they don’t know the guidance of God and are uncertain about their life with Jesus. Well, I can’t answer for others but I would suggest that firstly, they take every opportunity to be immersed in the word, both Old and New Testaments. Then I would suggest they appropriate to themselves each promise they come across.

Lastly, I’d suggest that they examine their faithfulness in their lives. Some don’t have the Lord in first place, but rank Him down at 3rd or 4th even. That is no good to do to the One who gave everything for you. Remember the verse – {{Psalm 37:4-5 “Delight yourself in the LORD and He will give you the desires of your heart. COMMIT YOUR WAY TO THE LORD. TRUST ALSO IN HIM, and He will do it.”}}

You may like the translation in the AV – {{“Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.”}}

Jesus promised to His immediate disciples a glorious fact which has become the basis of this poem – {{Matthew 28:20 “teaching them to observe all that I commanded you, and lo, I AM WITH YOU ALWAYS, even to the end of the age.”}}. Of course that promise will be so dear to all of the Lord’s followers.

===============================================================

I AM WITH YOU ALWAYS

He has loved me; He has kept me

Through the years of sore affliction.

He has nurtured; He has carried

Through the schemes of man’s invention.

=============================

There’s a peace and there’s a comfort

Jesus gives in tribulation.

There’s a hope and there’s a gladness,

Changing trials to jubilation.

=============================

Can we grasp it? Can we know it?

Can we understand His promise?

“I am with you; I’ll not leave you.”

Not a suffering saint dismiss.

(Not a thing with Him remiss) Alternate line

(Not a thing will he dismiss) Alternate line

=============================

Faith is needed; faith to claim it,

Through tribulation and distress.

His word is true; His presence real.

Commit yourself to His caress.

=============================

All His nearness; all His caring;

Saints will realise they’re defended;

He’s my Guidance; He’s my Lighthouse;

‘Ere the scroll of time has ended.
