[095]. A MESSAGE FROM A POEM – FROM CHAINS TO RELEASE

This poem covers a lot of ground. It starts with, and develops the chains of sin; the work of Christ on the cross; our redeemed state in a persecuting world; God is looking for faithfulness and commitment; we praise the Lord because He rescued us; and we end with our presence in heaven.

The chains of sin are very strong in people’s lives. They are bound in misery and addiction and it is the blood of Christ that breaks sin. It is captives and criminals who wear chains.

The sinner qualifies for both. He is a captive in Satan’s prison for all not in Christ belong to Satan’s kingdom. The sinner is also a criminal because he has committed crimes against God. BUT Jesus came – {{John 10:10 “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they might have life, and might have it abundantly.”}} This abundant life is ours when the Lord breaks the chains that hold us and sets us free.

{{Romans 6:23 “for the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”}}

{{Romans 8:2 “for the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death,”}}

I thank my Lord Jesus Christ that He came to release me from sin for that sin was taking me to hell. Praise the Lord that He rescued me from the one who was too strong for me! Loved with everlasting love!

FROM CHAINS TO RELEASE

Lord Jesus Christ, it was Your love

That rescued me from hell’s despair;

That lifted me so I might share

In holiness and joy above.

=============================

The chains of sin are just so strong,

And hold their captives without hope.

To hell they’re pushed along that slope,

And to God’s blessings, don’t belong.

=============================

But God is love and sent His Son

To rescue those in darkness chained.

Salvation for those ones was gained

Through sacrifice Christ’s death has won.

=============================

Redeemed and living now at peace,

The saints of God, each one rejoices.

They give their hearts and lift their voices

And praise their Saviour for release.

=============================

This world is not a happy place

With trials and persecution’s hate.

On earth that fight will not abate,

But God enfolds you in His grace.

=============================

God wants faithfulness from His own;

Commitment that is strong and true.

You may be numbered with the few,

But in your walk, you’re not alone.

=============================

It won’t be long until we’re found

Beside our loving Lord of life,

Recalling never hate and strife

That in this wicked world abound.

=============================

So praise the Lord, you saints of His;

Recount the story that is yours,

When snatched from out the devil’s jaws

For victory; and yours it is.

=============================

Lord Jesus Christ, you bore my sin.

The slightest step I could not take.

Before you, I would only quake

Because I’m filthy; bad within.

=============================

Inheritance that is unique

Is promised in our brand new home,

Where never from His presence roam,

But glory in His glory, seek.

=============================

    Jesus came to free us from our sins. But then, why do so many not sense the need to to be freed from those chains? To them it seems that the phrase "freed from sin" is mere Christianese. But is it?
