Contributed by Ron Ferguson on Apr 25, 2025 (message contributor)
[088]. A MESSAGE FROM A POEM – SPECIFIC – FOR YOUNG CHRISTIANS - THE THREE Ls
There are 9 poems in this Trilogy series. This poem is part of a Trilogy - three sets of three. The first set is addressed to MEN, the second to ALL CHRISTIANS and the third is SPECIFIC. This is the first one in the third set - FOR YOUNG CHRISTIANS.
ALL these poems follow the same format as they address the subject. ALL poems have 5 stanzas – Introduction; 3 stanzas for the subject; and the last stanza sums up. All poems feature three words based on a letter in the Alphabet. For this poem the letter is “L”.
We have a great standing in God who has done great things for us and established us in the Lord Jesus Christ. Young Christians face many changes in this world and it becomes more difficult to maintain an unblemished faith. All of us can get caught out so often. There are three words here that will help young Christians, and all Christians for that matter.
LOVE is what binds our lives together but only God’s love is a pure love. We love our Lord Jesus because His love for us was sacrificial and brought us into relationship with the Father. That is a vertical love. Then, love is horizontal, and we love our fellow believers.
LISTEN is what we must learn to do. Some talk so much and they never listen. All Christians must listen quietly to what God says to us. That is done as a person spends time carefully in the bible.
LEARN of the Saviour and grow into Him. While you are still young, that is the time to become established in the Lord and do great things for Him. We learn from the bible and testimonies of others.
(a). {{1 John 3:14 “We know that we have passed out of death into life because WE LOVE THE BRETHREN. He who does not love abides in death.”}}
(b). {{1 John 4:19 “WE LOVE, BECAUSE HE FIRST LOVED US.”}}
(c). {{1 John 5:2 “By this we know that WE LOVE THE CHILDREN OF GOD, when WE LOVE GOD and observe His commandments,”}}
(d). {{Matthew 11:28-29 “Come to Me all who are weary and heavy-laden and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and LEARN FROM ME for I am gentle and humble in heart and you shall find rest for your souls,”}}
(e). {{Proverbs 1:33 “but he who LISTENS to me shall live securely and shall be at ease from the dread of evil.”}}

FOR YOUNG CHRISTIANS - THE THREE Ls (Specific)
Rejoicing comes with each new birth, but that young life must grow.
Three Ls are needed for this growth as observations show.
Young Christian folk who love the Lord, for Him they want to try.
One’s life in Christ requires growth - so these three Ls apply.
======================================================
The first of these is double LOVE - for God and fellow man.
For who Christ is, and what He’s done, then love Him all you can.
Express this love to other folk; with Christ-like measure show.
Love sweetens each believing heart; allows His grace to flow.
======================================================
Do LISTEN to the Spirit’s voice, with eager, open ears,
And keenness show to do God’s will in spite of human fears.
To listen well to godly men and seek out their advice -
All worth far more than golden bars - a treasure without price.
======================================================
To take His yoke and LEARN of Him, is your obedience,
For at His feet true knowledge lives, and that’s where you commence.
His word’s the source of wisdom full; instruction that guides you.
With contrite spirit, come to learn, that your lives stand up true.
======================================================
What stuntedness must then result if you neglect these Ls.
Starvation, too, and ignorance, fill up the barren wells.
Disperse His love and learn of Him; tune in a listening ear.
In all your ways acknowledge Him, while you serve Him down here.
