What Have We Learned?
Contributed by Loyd C. Taylor on Mar 6, 2023 (message contributor)
What Have We Learned?
They shouted with praises, reaching the sky,
Pushing and shoving to see Jesus pass by.
Crying, “Hosanna, glory to the King!’
He comes to us today, great joy He doth bring."
They threw down palm leaves, covering the way,
Making a clear path for Him to travel that day.
Raising joyful voices, as praises filled the air,
Their day had come, God answered prayer!
But, in a short time, they changed their chant,
From joyful noise to a mob's hate-filled rant.
From Hosanna, hosanna, as when He was praised;
To crucify Him! Crucify Him, as their anger blazed!
In disbelief, we might question why they turned.
But maybe the question is, "What have we learned?"

It's amazing how people can be so fickle, they are this way this moment and then shortly they change. We see this in the crowd on Palm Sunday. But, after reading this story numerous times and shaking our heads in disgust, what can we learn from it? This is where the inspiration of my poem came from.

Ask for a volunteer. Give them the radio and ask them to turn it on. What can they hear? (This should be nothing more than a hiss.) Then ask your volunteer to turn the tuning dial. Stop them when a programme can be clearly heard. God wants us to hear what he is saying, but it is no use just ...read more

Let's See What Good Listeners You Are. Each Time ...
Contributed by Alistair Wearring on Jan 20, 2007
Let’s see what good listeners you are. Each time I say the name "Samuel," you are to jump up and say, "Here I am!" and then lie back down again. To begin, direct children to lie down and pretend they’re sleeping. Samuel (pause while children jump up and down) was a young person who loved God ...read more
