Kidnapped
Contributed by Dr. Fred W. Penney on Aug 8, 2022 (message contributor)
It was December 5 - and I was turning 50 years old.
My wife and I went out for dinner with some close friends.
During dinner I was informed that we were staying at a hotel by the airport tonight because we had to catch a flight in the morning.
Surprise!
Happy birthday!
Fred, we are taking you on a cruise!
Wow!
A few days later we are on the ship and at dinner. It was dress up night. Suit and tie style.
After dinner we are walking back across the ship. We pass by the pool. Above the pool is a big screen with an NFL football game featuring the Green Bay Packers.
I like football - so, I sat in a lounge chair, beside the pool, under the stars, in the Caribbean Sea and relaxed.
NOW THIS IS PEACE!!!
REALLY???
Is peace the absence of trouble?
Is peace sitting beside a pool watching a sporting event?
What is peace? Where do we find peace?
Listen to the words of these lyrics...
Tell me something, girl
Are you happy in this modern world?
Or do you need more?
Is there something else you're searchin' for?
I'm falling
In all the good times, I find myself longin' for change
And in the bad times, I fear myself
Tell me something, boy
Aren't you tired trying to fill that void?
Or do you need more?
