As an archery deer hunter I walk a lot out in nature. Yesterday as I was walking across a corn field I found a small branch of pretty colored leaves. My wife loves collecting leaves and doing crafts with them. I looked around and there were no trees with in a great distance from the leaves. How could they have gotten there? I picked them up and carried them carefully to my truck. When I got home I presented them to her expecting her to be greatful. She said they are not real then she proceeded to show me the branch was plastic. You see I don’t see so well without my glasses.

This is what many people have done with the gospel, so willing to accept traditions or false teaching and trusting them to get to heaven without checking them out with the word of God.

Jesus has said, in his first sermon

Matthew 4: 17 “From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”

John 14: 6 “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

We can do all kinds of good things in our life but be cast into hell at God’s judgement.

Hebrews 9: 27 “And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:”

Matthew 7: 21 “Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?

23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.”

Acts 4: 12 “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.”

John 3: 3 “Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”

John 3: 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

How can you be saved? Jesus said repent, turn from your sins and believe in Jesus! Talk to God and tell him you hate your sins and trust in Jesus to save you from judgement for your sins.

Ephesians 2: 8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
