About Allan
  • Education: My primary theological education took place at the Reformed Theological College in Geelong Australia. It was a five year full time Bachelor of Divinity. I also completed a Master of Arts in Theology through the Australian College of Theology. I also have a Graduate Certificate in Professional Management.
  • Experience: I have been in full time ministry for 30 years. Initially I served in the Christian Reformed Churches of Australia. In 2007 I planted a church in Brisbane which, after a few years, became part of the Queensland Baptist movement. I have been in my current church since March 2024.
  • Comment to those looking at my sermons: Thanks for being willing to have a look. It is humbling to know that sermons which God has graciously allowed me to write are being used all over the world. If you do end up preaching them please pray that the Spirit will use the sermons to transform and convict those to whom you speak.
  • Sermon or series that made a difference: Many of them do. When I preach I don’t just preach at the congregation but I also preach to myself. Having said that a recent sermon series on Jonah has reminded me again of the amazing grace of God to those who stubbornly think they are spiritually better than others.
  • Family: I have been married for 34 years and I have three daughters who are 33, 32 and 29. I also have 3 sons-in-law and three grand-daughters. My wife has been a constant support to my ministry and I am so thankful to the Lord for providing her in my life.
  • What my spouse (really) thinks of my sermons: She believes I am the best preacher she has ever heard.
  • Best advice given to me about preaching: Keep it simple and focus on the Word.
  • Books that have had an impact: I read all the time and there are many books which have had an impact. Indeed I have found that you can be impacted from the most unlikely sources.
  • Hobbies: I am working on a HO scale model railway based on a small suburban branch-line (which no no longer exists) in Sydney.
  • If I could Preach one more time, I would say...: What I always say; "Jesus is the only way to eternal life".
  • Something funny that happened while preaching: I often use the phrase "brothers and sisters" which I am addressing the congregation. However, one time, it came out as "brothers and sinners".
  • What I want on my tombstone: He let Jesus make the difference
