WHAT DO YOU SEE? GOD IS GETTING READY TO ACT…

By Wade Martin Hughes, Sr. Kyfingers@aol.com

I HAVE A ROD (FOR CORRECTION) A STAFF (FOR COMFORT). Same thing, like fiddle or violin.

BE IT KNOW TO ALL PEOPLE GOD IS READY TO PERFORM HIS WORD.

Jeremiah 1:12 Then said the LORD unto me, Thou hast well seen: for I will hasten my word to perform it.

2 Chronicles 10:15 So the king hearkened not unto the people: for the cause was of God, that the LORD might perform his word, which he spake by the hand of Ahijah the Shilonite to Jeroboam the son of Nebat.

Jeremiah 28:6 Even the prophet Jeremiah said, Amen: the LORD do so: the LORD perform thy words which thou hast prophesied, to bring again the vessels of the LORD'S house, and all that is carried away captive, from Babylon into this place.

LET US UNDERSTAND SEVERAL THINGS ABOUT THE ALMOND TREE OF THE BIBLE. WHAT DO YOU SEE?

There are three different kinds of almond trees in the Middle East. Two types of the almond trees are wild and have very bitter nuts and are not edible. The almond tree spoken of in the Bible is a domesticated tree that has a sweet edible nut. The almond tree’s blossoms are a white to pinkish blossoms

The almond tree is the first to blossom in the late winter or early spring. The almond trees bloom in LATE January or early February. Before any other tree speaks of life.

THE ALMOND TREE in the Bible is a type. The almond tree is one of the first trees to “WAKE UP IN THE SPRING.” The almond tree is a PLAY ON WORDS: TO WATCH, to be ready or prepared… prepared to take action.

GOD IS READY, WILLING AND PREPARED TO PERFORM HIS WORD.

HASTEN TO PERFORM HIS WORD… TO MOVE OR TO ACT QUICKLY. ENCOURAGE… HEBREW TO SHAKE, PREPARE, READY.

JACOB USE ALMOND BRANCHES FOR HIS ROD, STAFF…

ISRAEL TOLD HIS SONS TAKE ALMONDS AS A GIFT TO EGPYT, THESE NUT WERE A DELICACY. They ate the almonds with salt or with sugar.

Genesis 43:11 And their father Israel said unto them, If it must be so now, do this; take of the best fruits in the land in your vessels, and carry down the man a present, a little balm, and a little honey, spices, and myrrh, nuts, and almonds:.

IN THE OLD TESTAMENT MANY USED THE ALMOND FOR WALKING STICKS OR CANES. AARON HAD A ALMOND ROD…

Exodus 7:10 And Moses and Aaron went in unto Pharaoh, and they did so as the LORD had commanded: and Aaron cast down his rod before Pharaoh, and before his servants, and it became a serpent. 11 Then Pharaoh also called the wise men and the sorcerers: now the magicians of Egypt, they also did in like manner with their enchantments. 12 For they cast down every man his rod, and they became serpents: but Aaron's rod swallowed up their rods.

THE ALMOND ROD CHALLENGE OF GOD’S LEADERSHIP. THERE WAS A FALSE CLAIM OF WHO HAD GOD’S AUTHORITY. WHY COULDN’T THE OTHER 12 TRIBES BE “BOSS!” SO THERE WAS A CHALLENGE OF THE RODS…

(You don’t have to read all the verses, you can summarize the story.) So Moses trusted GOD’S PLAN AND MOSES KNEW GOD WAS GETTING READY TO DO A NEW WORK AND CONFIRM GOD’S WORD AND GOD’S LEADERSHIP. God was preparing a CONFIRMATION OF HIS ANOINTING.

Numbers 17:1 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 2 Speak unto the children of Israel, and take of every one of them a rod according to the house of their fathers, of all their princes according to the house of their fathers twelve rods: write thou every man's name upon his rod. 3 And thou shalt write Aaron's name upon the rod of Levi: for one rod shall be for the head of the house of their fathers. 4 And thou shalt lay them up in the tabernacle of the congregation before the testimony, where I will meet with you. 5 And it shall come to pass, that the man's rod, whom I shall choose, shall blossom: and I will make to cease from me the murmurings of the children of Israel, whereby they murmur against you.

6 And Moses spake unto the children of Israel, and every one of their princes gave him a rod apiece, for each prince one, according to their fathers' houses, even twelve rods: and the rod of Aaron was among their rods. 7 And Moses laid up the rods before the LORD in the tabernacle of witness. 8 And it came to pass, that on the morrow Moses went into the tabernacle of witness; and, behold, the rod of Aaron for the house of Levi was budded, and brought forth buds, and bloomed blossoms, and yielded almonds. 9 And Moses brought out all the rods from before the LORD unto all the children of Israel: and they looked, and took every man his rod. 10 And the LORD said unto Moses, Bring Aaron's rod again before the testimony, to be kept for a token against the rebels; and thou shalt quite take away their murmurings from me, that they die not.
