What Do You Expect
Contributed by Pastor/Author: Terry Sisney on May 5, 2025 (message contributor)
Summary: Expectation is the active ingredient of faith that is deposited into the heart when the word of God is heard and believed. There is no such thing as a living faith without expectation.
Numbers 13:1-3 KJV And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, [2] Send thou men, that they may search the land of Canaan, which I give unto the children of Israel: of every tribe of their fathers shall ye send a man, every one a ruler among them. [3] And Moses by the commandment of the LORD sent them from the wilderness of Paran: all those men were heads of the children of Israel.
Numbers 13:17-21,23 KJV And Moses sent them to spy out the land of Canaan, and said unto them, Get you up this way southward, and go up into the mountain: [18] And see the land, what it is; and the people that dwelleth therein, whether they be strong or weak, few or many; [19] And what the land is that they dwell in, whether it be good or bad; and what cities they be that they dwell in, whether in tents, or in strong holds; [20] And what the land is, whether it be fat or lean, whether there be wood therein, or not. And be ye of good courage, and bring of the fruit of the land. Now the time was the time of the firstripe grapes. [21] So they went up, and searched the land from the wilderness of Zin unto Rehob, as men come to Hamath. [23] And they came unto the brook of Eshcol, and cut down from thence a branch with one cluster of grapes, and they bare it between two upon a staff; and they brought of the pomegranates, and of the figs.
What did you expect? Have you ever heard that phrase? It usually comes right after you've done something stupid, and you got an undesirable result.
Like you stuck your finger in a light socket and got shocked. And then you looked at mom with this stupid look on your face like, why did that happen to me. And she said well dummy, what did you expect?
I don't know about you but I had that kind of mother, she would let me stick my finger in the light socket so I could learn that that wasn't a good idea. And I would know what to expect the next time.
I know that's kind of funny, But not real funny if you're the one with your finger in the light socket.
But this is the title the lord gave me for this message what do you expect?
Expectation is no small thing. Expectation is like those 12 Spies that went out into the Promised Land to spy out the land, and bring back fruit from the land.
Expectation is like that, expectation goes before every promise, every healing, every miracle, every breakthrough, every deliverance.
Expectation is seeing with the eyes of the heart, and tasting by the spirit, what is not yet been seen, what is not yet been heard, what is not yet been felt.
Expectation is like the "invisible spys" that invade the Land of the Giants, and taste the fruit of promise while it's still in the land of the giants.
In other words your expectation touches it in the future before it manifests in your today.
Expectation travels into the future, and comes back with the good report... God's word is true. It's all there, righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost. Signs and wonders, miracles, and gifts of the Spirit.
??Expectation is the breeding ground for miracles.
??Expectation is the platform or Miracles are launched from.
??Expectation is the posture for receiving from God.
??Expectation is the active ingredient a faith.
??There is no such Thing as faith without expectation.
??Expectation is like the landing strip for the plane to land.
??Expectation is to be pregnant with the promise.
You may have heard a word for years with no expectation of it ever coming to pass...
??But the moment you begin to expect you are pregnant with the promise.
??Expectation creates focus. And focus releases energy to bring things to pass.
You can't expect everything at the same time, but when you begin to expect with focus, that's when energy to produce is released.
??Expectation is the doorway that miracles enter through.
The Bible says faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God. When we hear the word of God proclaimed, and it is received, it plants the seed of belief and expectation in our hearts.
Expectation is not merely an attitude that you carry in your heart. Expectation manifest itself through corresponding action.
When parents are expecting, it begins to manifest... they start thinking about names for the child. They start buying things for the nursery. They start making preparations to receive what they're expecting.
Before Jesus fed the multitudes he had them sit down in companies of 50. Why did he do that?
