"Visionary View: When Your Vision is Out of Focus"

Today, we explore a topic that affects us all at some point in our lives: "Visionary View: When Your Vision is Out of Focus." Our vision can become blurred by various distractions and challenges, but through God's Word, we can regain our focus. Let's delve into Scripture for guidance.

I. The Importance of Clear Vision:

Proverbs 29:18 (NLT) says, "When people do not accept divine guidance, they run wild. But whoever obeys the law is joyful." This verse emphasizes the importance of having a clear vision guided by the divine.

II. The Story of Peter Walking on Water:

In Matthew 14:22-33, we find the disciples of Jesus in a boat on a stormy sea. Jesus comes to them, walking on the water. Peter, ever impulsive, asks to come to Jesus. Jesus invites him, and Peter steps out of the boat, walking on the water towards Jesus.

Matthew 14:30-31 (NLT):

"But when he saw the strong wind and the waves, he was terrified and began to sink. 'Save me, Lord!' he shouted. Jesus immediately reached out and grabbed him. 'You have so little faith,' Jesus said. 'Why did you doubt me?'"

Peter had a clear vision when he was looking at Jesus, but when he shifted his focus to the storm, his vision became out of focus, and he began to sink. This story illustrates how distractions can blur our spiritual vision.

III. The Distractions of Life:

In our lives, distractions come in many forms. It could be worries about the future, the pursuit of wealth, the desire for recognition, or even the demands of daily life. These distractions can cause our spiritual vision to lose focus.

IV. Refocusing Our Vision:

So, how can we refocus our vision when it becomes blurred?

1. Fix Your Eyes on Jesus:

Hebrews 12:2 (NLT) advises, "We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith." Just like Peter, when we keep our eyes on Jesus, our vision remains clear, and we can walk on the waters of life's challenges.

2. Prioritize Spiritual Disciplines:

Regular prayer, Bible study, and worship help us maintain our spiritual focus. They keep us connected to the source of our vision.

3. Identify and Eliminate Distractions:

Recognize the distractions in your life that are causing your vision to blur. Take steps to remove or reduce these distractions.

4. Seek Godly Counsel:

Proverbs 15:22 (NLT) says, "Plans go wrong for lack of advice; many advisers bring success." Seek counsel from mature Christians who can help you refocus your vision.

V. Closing Encouragement:

In conclusion, when your vision is out of focus, remember Peter's experience. When he kept his eyes on Jesus, he walked on water. But when he focused on the storm, he began to sink. Keep your eyes fixed on the Author and Perfecter of our faith, Jesus Christ.

As we depart from this place today, I encourage each of you to take a moment to reflect on your own life. Is your vision in focus, or have distractions blurred it? Seek the Lord's guidance in refocusing your vision on Him. Let us pray for clarity of vision and the strength to overcome distractions.

Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your guidance and wisdom. Help us to keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, even in the midst of life's storms. Remove the distractions that hinder our vision. May we walk in faith and obedience. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

May God bless you all as you refocus your vision on Him and walk in the clear and divine path He has set before you.
