To Whom Shall We Go?
Contributed by Darrell Jones on Mar 18, 2003 (message contributor)
Summary: This message answers the question of "To Whom Shall We Go", in matters pertaining to eternity.
Most everyone has someone they can turn to for advice.
In time of sickness, they can turn to a doctor.
In legal matters, they can turn to a lawyer.
However, there are some things man doesn’t have the answer for.
As you and I face eternity with a never dying soul, to whom shall we go?
(1) To Whom Shall We Go With Our Sins?
(A) Can we turn to men of great wealth?
(Psalms 49:7-8)"None that boast of great wealth can redeem his brother."
(B) Can we turn to some modernistic positive thinking preacher, who would try to get us to forget our sins by covering them in a change of thinking?
(Prov. 28:13) "He that covereth his sins shall not prosper, but whosoever confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy."
(C) Shall we go to an earthly priest and confess them?
(1Tim. 2:5) "there is one God and one mediator, He is Christ Jesus."
(D) Can we go to Calvary, to Christ who said, "Come unto Me"? (Read Matthew 11:28-30)
(a) It is a fact Christ died for our sins.
Read (Isaiah 53:6) read (Acts 4:12)
(b) It is a fact that if we refuse or fail to come to Him, we’ll die in our sins.
Read (John 8:21&24). "Jesus said, "If ye believe not ye shall die in your sins."
(2) Where Can We Go For Inward Peace?
(A) The sinner has no peace and there is no peace to be found in the pleasures of this world.
Read (Isaiah 57:20&21)
(B) True peace is found only in Christ Jesus
(John 14:27) "Peace I leave, Peace I give not as the world giveth, let not your heart be troubled or afraid."
(C) This peace became available at a great price.
(Colossians 1:20) Peace was made through the Blood.
(a) It is so easy to receive. (Romans 8:1) "There is therefore no condemnation."
(3) Whom Shall We Go For Security?
(A) Not our own opinions. Read (Prov. 14:12)
(B) Not some religious pretender. Read (2John vs. 5).
(C) We can go to Jesus for our assurance and security.
Read (John 10:27-29)
(4) Where Can We Go when The Door Of Life Closes?
(A) This depends on our decision for Christ.
If we accept Him, we will have rest.
(Psalms 23:4) "Ye though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil for thou art with me, thy rod and thy staff they comfort me."
(B) If we reject Him, we can be sure of an eternal hell.
Read (Matthew 7:21-23)
