Who Gave The Church The Order To Stand Down?

The term "Stand Down" has been used recently in light of the Benghazi attack, it is a military term meaning a cessation of offensive actions; a cease fire; a truce. Are we guilty of "Standing Down" concerning the sins that are prevalent in our society?
When reporting on current events such as "fast and furious" and the Benghazi attack on our American Embassy, reporters are using the term "Stand Down" when asking who gave the orders to do nothing to help those in peril. Psalms 139:17 tells us, "How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! How great is the sum of them." I list several ways in which God thinks about us.
