Till He Comes Again
Hebrews 9:27-28
Intro.
Are you looking for the Second Coming of Christ.
- The Rapture is next.
John 14:1-3 “Ye believe in God….
John 14:3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto
myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
- The Second Coming
Are you ready for the Second Coming.
Jesus did not tell us to go out and sit on a rock, or on the front porch and just watch the sky.
We are go to about serving Him
Worshiping God
Loving People
All the while - watching for His coming
So what do we do in the meantime?
I. We are to Look for His Coming. Titus 2:11-14
A. Looking for that Blessed Hope
1. This is the hope we hold of his return
2. The “glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ.”
B. It means that we anticipate His return.
1. I’m looking forward to that day.
2. It means we’ll be in Heaven with Him.
3. All the cares and worries or this life will be over.
Rev. 21:4 And God shall wipe away all tears
from their eyes; and there shall be no more
death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall
there be any more pain: for the former things
are passed away.
4. As we get older we anticipate living with a
certain amount of Pain.
a. You don’t have to ask and elder if they have
pain, you just ask “Where does it hurt today”
b. Arthritis
c. Past injuries
d. Knees, back, sometimes just all over.
C. I look forward to that day when Jesus Comes
again.
II. We are to Preach His Return
Titus 2:15 ¶ These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.
A. The word “speak” is the word for “declare” or
“preach”.
1. Don’t be afraid to to talk of His return
2. Preaching of His return could lead someone to salvation.
B. The word “exhort” means to encourage.
1. Encouragement to look for His return
2. Encouragement to be ready for His return.
III. We are to Keep Working till He Returns.
“Zealous of good works” Titus 2:14
A. Passionate about service God
B. We are to be enthusiastic and eager to Work till he returns.
1. We were created for good works.
Eph. 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath
before ordained that we should walk in them.
2. We should encourage each other to keep working til His return.
Heb. 10:24 And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:
C. We must remember that we are not saved by our good works.
1. Our good works show our love and devotion to God.
2. Our light shines in our good works
Mark 5:16 And they that saw it told them how it befell to him that was possessed with the devil, and
also concerning the swine.
3. Our good works glorify Him
IV. We are to find comfort in His Return
1 Thess. 4:13-18
A. For those who are saved, the coming of Jesus should be comforting.
B. For those who are not saved it should strike terror in your heart to the point of believing in him. Vs. 4:18
C. The Rapture is only for believers.
V. We are to Love His Return.
2Tim. 4:6-8
A. As Paul approached the end of his life on this earth.
1. I’m ready. Vs. 6
2. I know it’s close.
3. I fought a good fight.
4. I finished my course
5. I have kept the faith.
B. He’ll receive a “crown of righteousness”
C. You can have one to if you also love His appearing.
1. Implies that you are born again.
2. You have something to look forward to in His return.
3. There is an affection in your heart to see Him.
Conclusion
I believe Jesus is coming again.
1 I believe we need to be ready for his return.
