Let’s pray

Today with the help of the Holy Spirit I want to preach on the Doctrine of Sanctification!!

Throughout this message in no particular order I want to try to answer the questions concerning Sanctification what is it? What does it look like? how do we get it? Why does it matter & then finally I’m going to put a big emphasis today on the process of Sanctification!!

What is it? And

1. By definition it literally means to be set apart and sanctification refers to the ongoing process of being made holy and set apart for God's purposes

what does it look like?

1. The apostle Peter in the NASB which I read from today refers to us as aliens in other translations they use words like….!!!

2. We are chosen!!!

3. By foreknowledge of God?

How do we get it?

1. Through the sanctifying work of the Spirit!! Without him it is impossible to be saved and also to be sanctified

2. When we surrender our live’s to God & give him complete control then he does an ongoing work within us & through us that we could never have any other way!!

Why does it matter?

1. People are watching us!!

2. Because of the price Jesus paid!! I believe he died for me…!!!

Finally let’s talk about the process of Sanctification!!

Usually especially in holiness church circles when we think of sanctification we think of entire sanctification but that is only a part of the process of sanctification in fact there is many stages along the way let me try to explain!!

1. Initial Sanctification!! The moment we are saved, God sets us apart from the rest of the world!! He hasn’t lost one yet!!

2. Entire Sanctification!! Christian perfection

3. Final Sanctification!! Glorification

4. Progressive Sanctification!!
