Summary: God is faithful in His character, in His Word and to His people. God shows His faithfulness in many practical ways in our lives. He will come through for you always. We want to change to be like Him. We are to be faithful, as He is faithful.

BECAUSE GOD IS FAITHFUL, THEREFORE…

(1) GOD WILL COME THROUGH FOR YOU ALWAYS

Regardless of how bad your situation is, God remains committed to you and will therefore see you through.

• He will NEVER let you down. He may not do what you want, exactly when you want it, or even how you want it. He may not even do it in ways you can understand, now or perhaps ever.

• But the truth remains: He is committed to you and will not harm you.

• He cannot change! He is true to Himself, to His Word and to you His people.

Jeremiah experienced that. He was in grief over the sins of his nation Judah.

• He expresses his sorrows over 5 laments in this book. The people were not listening to him. They were not just rejecting him, they were rejecting God. It’s hopeless.

• He devoted the entire chapter describing his agony and pain. 3:19-20 “I remember my affliction and my wandering, the bitterness and the gall. 20I well remember them, and my soul is downcast within me.”

He felt alone and depressed in the midst of a defiant people UNTIL he directed his thoughts to God.

• This is what we must do, when you feel like giving up; when everything that can go wrong went wrong, when you are in despair.

• Jeremiah did something that kept him “alive spiritually”. 3:21-22 “Yet this I call to mind and therefore I have hope:

• 3:22-26 “Because of the LORD's great love we are not consumed, for His compassions never fail. 23They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. 24I say to myself, "The LORD is my portion; therefore I will wait for Him." 25The LORD is good to those whose hope is in Him, to the one who seeks Him; 26 it is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the LORD.

Everything else may have changed, but not God. His love is great; His compassions never fail. They are new every morning.

• You cannot deplete His goodwill. There won’t come a time when God says, “Enough is enough! I’m done with you.”

• Every morning you open up the fridge, and it’s full again. Every morning, you look at the jar of water and it’s full again. They are new every morning!

Just like the Israelites in the wilderness, you step out of your tent and you see manna on the ground, fresh, every morning, for 40 years! (cf. Exo 16:35)

• You don’t have to save it for tomorrow. The faithful God will supply fresh manna.

• Imagine this, every day for 40 years you depended completely on God for survival, and God didn’t let you down. He kept His promise.

• How does that feel? Every day we see the faithfulness of God! Not for some days, but every day! We ask God for the blessing of such a sight! We pray that we’ll be trained to see God’s loving-kindness every day.

• They are new every morning. Great is His faithfulness!

2 Tim 2:13 “If we are faithless, He will remain faithful, for He cannot disown himself.”

• God cannot be unfaithful. It is not Himself, to be unfaithful.
