THE CALL OF THE SHOFAR: ARE YOU LIVING IN YOUR OWN BUBBLE? RE-DEFINING TRUTH? HISTORY?

I HAVE A SHOFAR TO BLOW: I sound the alarm in ZION, I BLOW THE SHOFAR: THE RAMS-HORN TRUMPET… USED TO CALL TO WORSHIP, TO RELIGIOUS CEREMONIES AND TO SIGNAL LOOMING BATTLE. The shofar is more than the compromise of the world. The shofar is a high calling. The shofar often signaled a call to repentance, sobbing and wailing. The shofar was a calling to give and bring sacrifice to God.

WE NEED A BIG MIRROR TO SEE THE TRUTH… DO WE UNDERSTAND THE VALUE OF A GOOD FOUNDATION? We have heard the lesson of the house on the sand? The house on the rock? The sand foundation can destroy a well built house. Our families and society have gradually redefined THE FOUNDATIONS of the church.

Let us look at another IDIOMATIC EXPRESSION: LET US PUT SOMETHING INTO PERSPECTIVE?

THERE IS AN AGE OLD QUESTION WE NEED TO CONSIDER… WHAT IS TRUTH? TODAY WE SEEM TO GET LOST THAT THERE IS NO ABSOLUTE TRUTH… EACH MAN DEFINES HIS OWN TRUTH?

John 18:38 Pilate saith unto him, What is truth? And when he had said this, he went out again unto the Jews, and saith unto them, I find in him no fault at all.

A YOUNG MAN OF 17 in Sunday School being taught the Golden Rule and by the time another year rolls around, it may be his turn to lay his life down. He was taught not to kill, now they lay a rifle in his hand and send him to Viet Nam. Can you blame the voice of the youth for asking: WHAT IS TRUTH?

A YOUNG MAN SITTIN’ ON THE WITNESS STAND, THIS MAN WITH A BOOK SAYS RAISE YOUR HAND, REPEAT AFTER ME, I SOLEMNLY SWEAR. The man looked down at his long hair and although the young man solemnly swore

No one seems to hear anymore. And it really didn’t matter if the truth was there. It was the cut of his clothes and the length of his hair and the lonely voice of the youth cries: WHAT IS TRUTH.

The young girl dancing to the latest beat, has found new ways to move her feet. The young man speaking in city square is trying to tell someone that he cares. Yeah, the ones you are calling wild, are going to be leaders in a little while. This old world’s wakin’ to a new born day, and I solemnly swear that he will say: WHAT IS TRUTH?

THERE IS ANOTHER QUESTION: WHO DEFINES TRUTH? THE NORM TODAY IS EVERYONE DEFINES THEIR OWN TRUTH… WHICH TRUTH WILL YOU ACCEPT AND BUY?

Seems individuals and families exist in a dog-eat-dog world. We are so opinionated. We are unbending. We talk negative and do not care who we slander. We bypass the church and the Bible to live impulsively wild, while complaining most of the time. SEEMS WE HAVE ALLOWED SIN TO CREEP IN TO BECOME THE NORM.

WHO WILL DEFINE THE TRUTH?

DO YOU DEFINE THE TRUTH? Will POLITICIANS define truth? Will situation ETHICS define the truth? Will the MEDIA? TV personalities? How about the billionaires? Will RACIAL tones define truth? Will ELECTIONS define the truth?

WE HONESTLY KNOW THERE ARE THREE DEFINING FORCES THAT WILL CONTROL THE TRUTH… GOD AND OUR ETERNAL ENEMY AND YOUR OWN PERSPECTIVE? WHOSE TRUTH WILL YOU BUY?

ONE MORE ISSUE WE MUST CONSIDER: PERSPECTIVE? ATTITUDE? MIND SET? VIEW POINT?

Matthew 7:14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

Does a man and a woman have the same perspective? Does a rich person and a poor person carry the same perspective? You are a farmer and your crop needs rain or there will be no harvest? You have your boat and family out on the lake, you pray: PLEASE GOD NO RAIN? WHAT IS TRUTH?
